Spin it whichever way you want, but Jarvis is horrible. And your own GM came out and said you guys saved no money on this deal and will continue to pay for most of Cirillo's contract.

One scrub festering on your roster is better than 3.

This is not a great trade, but it could benefit both clubs, Cirillo gives the Padres a decent (if he starts to hit again) back up if they keep him, he will see time at at First and Third and possibly the Outfield, Cirillo could be for the Padres what Ed Sprague was a few years ago: a dependable bench player,
for Seattle, Kevin Jarvis gives them a little flexability if they want to trade one of the starters or they could use him in the bullpen, Wiki Gonzalez will likely end up in the minor leagues, but is decent insurence incase Dan Wilson or Ben Davis get hurt, Dave Hansen will suffer a little being in the American League, he wont be called upon to pinch hit as much as he would in the N.L., but will make a good late inning replacement at First or Third,
not every trade is a blockbuster, but there are possitives for both teams involved.

Somehow, I don't understand why the M's did this, to take on three bad players when giving up just one. It's not good for the Padres either because of Cirillo's salary. But I believe Seattle is paying for some of it.

OH MY GAWD!!!!!!!!!!!!(not necessarily a JR reference ) About time! Almost anything would be an improvement over Cirillo. I thought he would be something coming out of Colorado, but Colorado is what enabled him to be an above average hitter, which isnt saying much.

As for what be got back, good ol Mariner front office. Not suprised by this.
