The United Countries of Baseball Map - how accurate is it for your region?

From time to time, I like to look at this "United Countries of Baseball Map." I think it's really well-done and visually striking.

Here is a link to a larger version.

Being a native of south Georgia, however, it always makes me laugh how a little piece of "Marlin territory" extends into the state of Georiga, because I have never in my life seen or heard of Marlins fans in any part of Georgia. In fact, I'd argue the opposite, and say that there are more Braves fans in Florida than Marlins fans in Georgia.

Anyway, I'm just interested if this map is accurate for your region.

Actually, I'd say that northeastern Ontario would be more Red Sox territory.

I would like to have seen a little bit more of Oklahoma in Cardinals territory. They could have also mixed the colors together where the "borders" overlap.

That used to be the case, but now most of them really don't follow the sport anymore. You have all the people from northern cities who like other teams, some Marlins/Rays fans sprinkled throughout, and Braves fans are slowly dwindling as younger would be fans can't watch them on TV.

The Braves are only shown if they are playing the Marlins or on the national broadcast. I would say all of North FL would be Braves if they were still on TV. Its sad that a team in Miami gets put as the home team for North FL when Atlanta is actually slightly closer.

I guess if it is going to give a region to one team, I'd have to agree, but I know almost as many O's fans in north DE as I do Phillies fans, although last year could have encouraged that.

Before the Rangers came to the Metroplex, most of north Texas was Cardinals or Dodgers territory (with St. Louis being established and Brooklyn having the Cats as their minor league team). My Granddaddy says that his daddy was a big Cardinals fan and would listen to them on the radio all of the time. That of course changed, but I'd still wager that most of eastern Oklahoma is Redbirdland.

Rangers territory probably covers a mixed region in the Austin area (Round Rock is our AAA team), goes all the way to northern Mexico, up the Rio Grande touching Rockies territory in the northern part of New Mexico, sweeps into southern parts of Kansas and all of Oklahoma, and includes parts of Arkansas and Louisiana.

I think it's wrong. There's a ton of Reds fans here in Indiana. The map pretty much only shows the Cubs and Cardinals as being favorites.

It doesn't look like Twins Territory extends nearly far enough into Iowa. Most of north central and northwest Iowa is Twins fans... there are exceptions, of course, and it is a bit divided, but I still consider it to be mostly Twins' Territory.

Not correct at all. Everything east of Baton Rouge is more Braves than Astros, and Baton Rouge itself is 50/50 Braves to Astros.

But if it was REALLY correct, Central Louisiana would be Purple

...except for the people that do.

All I was saying was that more people care about "aluminum bat ball" than they do "wooden bat ball". Either way, it wasn't even that serious a comment. No need to get all pissy about it.

I would argue that Eastern Indiana is more Reds country than Cardinals and Cubs territory.

And that little sliver of Indians territory in central WV may as well be a mix between the Reds/Indians/Pirates.

Florida seems accurate, but probably more Braves in the northern parts
Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, Lightning

I don't know about Oregon, but SW VA is either O's or Braves, definitely not Pirates.
