fast forward to Jan,12 2004 the Rocket has landed, this time in Houston, Roger Clemens has come home to continue his career, over three months after calling it quits,
Clemens who had pitched in New York for the Yankees for the past 5 seasons, changes Leagues for the first time, leaving the A.L. where had won 310 games, 17th most in Baseball history,
he joins former Yankee teammate Andy Pettitte in Houston, which according to Clemens was one of the deciding factors in signing with the Astros.
Clemens, 41, showed last year that he still has some fuel in his tank going 17-9 with Yankees last season, looks forward to the challenge of a new league and facing new hitters,
one has to wonder how Clemens will fair in the very homerun friendly Minute Maid Park, Clemens allowed 24 HR in 211.2 innings last year, his career high is 26 in 2000, Clemens himself said he will probably give up a few more Homeruns than he would like, but thats what you have to expect being a power pitcher,
Clemens, with that intimidating glare, has been known to be a "head hunter" in his career, he likes to pitch inside, and own the inside part of the plate, will now have to pick up a bat on a regular basis, when asked if he would change his approach to pitching inside because he will have to bat, clemens response was a simple "no",
so the questions remain: how much does Roger have left? can he help get the Astros to the next level? who is the ace of the Astros staff?
and will this be the last launch for the Rocket?.
