I personally don't agree with dragging the extraneous Bush politics into the issue, but I think blotting out the entire discussion because of the threat of it is pretty vapid...

...either way, getting back to the point. I was and still am pretty unclear as to what Bush was getting at or what his motives were for bringing up the steroids issue. It almost felt as if he needed an extra minute or two for his speech to reach the speech length he needed. It sound pretty out of place to me, though it was amusing to hear the league reps dance around the issue this morning.

gosh... why does everyone have to make it in to a political issue. The guy was just saying good job Bush for talking about Steroids. I don't see why all Democrats find it ok to jump on him everytime there is a thread even if it has nothing to do with his other policies. Just because the Democrates out number the Republicans on this board doesn't mean your opinions are always right either.

                              Guys,

I didn't mean for this to become a political issue. In fact, I'm not even a proponent of Bush. But I didn't think it was out of line for him to bring up a health issue that's affecting the younger generation because many of their sports hero's are taking steroids. Not to mention there are those of us concerned for the integrity of the game. Afterall, this is the grand ol' game. To institute a punishment where you get four free passes to use muscle enhancers is beyond ludicrous. By letting the big wigs of the MLB Players Association know that their governing principles are piss poor, it's sending a message that they're being watched. Personally, I'm not as big of a Baseball fan as I used to be because of the illegal substances that are being used. While the majority of the players are clean, you still question those players. It's just bad for the game all the way around.
