It would never happen, besides, what would it prove?, your going to take the two worst teams in the Major Leagues, with Major League players, and replace them with two Minor League teams, with Minor League players, if the teams with the big leaguers could not win against other big league talent, then how could teams with Minor League players fair any better.

I know this idea has been tossed around before, but it is one of the worst idea's Baseball has ever come up with.

Youre missing the point. 1) Players on suspect teams would generally have 1 or 2 year contracts so they could catch on with someone or 2) there maybe could be a provision giving every player on a team being relegated free agency.

Regarding what it would prove, it would put pressure on certain ownerships (eg the Reds) to put a quality product out there. As a consequence, in the long run its better for the fans. There are a lot of teams who currently arent drawing squat. I contend that it is possible, if not likely, that by relegating, the new teams would have higher attendance than some of the current MLB teams. I went to the Red Sox vs White Sox game on 2 seperate occasions. The first time the crowd was scarce. The second time both teams were in contention so it seemed like a lot but... it was only 23,000...in Comiskey!!!
