Re: leave it to the Mets..... AGAIN...

i am not saying that they would have gotten him cheap - but all the garbage that was said - A-Rod wanted his own jet, seats, etc, was crock - it was just a way to pull wool over fan's eyes.. A-Rod i believe wanted to come to the Mets but the Mets did not want him (besides, they had Rey... Rey.. oh i cant remember that .210 batter's name).. then they go out, trade Appier (who did a respectable job as a starter for Vaughn - well we know how that turned out. They got scared off by medical reports but yet are taking a look at a pitcher who was out all of last year with, suprise, suprise, AN INJURY..

You still didn't answer my question. Regardless of what the Mets' said about ARod, fact is it would have taken a more rediculous contract than the one he got from the Rangers to land him. If you think the Mets should have offered him 26 million a year then just say so. Otherwise I think you're creating grief for yourself. I mean, the Mets did sign several free agents this off-season, and a couple really good ones at that. I think you should be appreciative of that, because most teams can't and didn't sign anyone.

I don't know dude, why don't you just convert to a Yankee fan, I think they run their franchise the way you'd appreciate.

Erickson will only get a minor league contract if they sign him, and thats IF they sign him,
there is also talk that they may try and sign John Burkett or Garrett Stephenson, Reed was a decent starter when he was with the Mets, bt hit a skid after he was traded to the Twins, i don't see this as a particularly big loss for the Mets, but, i see what you are saying, it is fraustrating to watch as your team makes little effort at improving themselves, watching the players they could of had do well, and the players they chose struggle, i can remember when Dan (Jim's cousin) Duquette was G.M. of the Red Sox, watching the good players on the market sign with other teams and him signing the likes of Luis Alicea or Zane Smith, or when he traded Jose Canseco for John Wasdin, i can remember thinking what the...?, he chased Roger Clemens and Mo vaughn out of town, heck he even chased Wil Cordero out,
the Mets have too much money locked up in the contracts of Mike Piazza, Cliff Floyd, Al Leiter and Tom Glavine, while they have some very good ypung pitching coming up, i don't think they will be a major player in the offseason any time soon,
