Can someone explain this goat curse to me? I've read a couple websites with team histories and the closest thing to a curse i've found for the Cubs was the black kitty curse where in 1969 the Cubs were leading the Mets in the division and some black cat appeared on the field. After that the Cubs folded like a cheap suitcase and have only gone to the playoffs 3 times after.

Here's another "curse" Tho I guess it isn't really one but the Astros. They can never get out of the first round of the playoffs. Even when they had the great Nolan Ryan on their team throughout the 80s!

i think what happened is basically a guy came with a goat but the goat wasn't allowed in so the man supposedely cursed the team
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.

THIS IS HOW THE "BILLY GOAT CURSE" GOT PUT ON THE CUBS: On OCT. 6TH 1945 a greek tavern owner by the name of William "BILLY GOAT" SIANIS (that was his nickname because of the goatee he always had) bought box seats for himself and his goat Murphy for the 4th game of the WORLD SERIES. The Cubs had won 2 out of 3 in Detroit and were favored to win it all in Chicago. In the past Billy Goat had always been allowed to bring his goat to the games, besides Murphy had his own ticket. This time, however, as Sianis walked into Wrigley Field the ushers prevented his entry, telling him that no goats were allowed. When Billy Goat asked for an appeal directly to owner P.K. Wrigley, P.K. told them to allow Billy Goat in but not Murphy. When Billy Goat asked why, they said, "Because the goat smells."That upset Sianis and standing in front of Wrigley Field in retaliation, he raised both hands and said, "Cubs, they not gonna win anymore. They never gonna be another World Series played at Wrigley Field." Casting what has become known as the "BILLY GOAT CURSE" over the Cubs. Subsequently, the Tigers won the next 3 games and the series and the Cubs have never been back. The Cubs' loss prompted Billy Goat to send a telegram to P.K. Wrigley asking, "Who smells now?" Then there was the 1969 season when the cubs had a comfortable 9 game lead late in the season. They blew it eventhough they had all stars at just about every position! Sam Sianis, the grandson of Billy, tried again on July 4th of 1983. But despite a rented limousine, a red carpet and a sign that read "All is forgiven. Let me lead the Cubs to the pennant. Billy Goat", Sianis and Billy Goat XII were stopped again. So the Cubs continued a march of mediocrity interrupted only by brief stretches of total ineptitude, 1984 and 1989 notwithstanding. It happened again in 98. Now in 2003 once again we need to win 1 more game with 3 to play, what happens, the Cubs loose 3 straight to the Marlins and fans are left once again saying "Wait till next year". I'm sure the Cubs will be in the series the 1ST year they move out of OUT OF WRIGLEY FIELD or they get that goat back in the park!

The "curse of the Bambino" is still the worst curse in all of sports, to have a player like Babe Ruth and selling him to the even then hated Yankees just to pay off your theater debts, Ruth said that the Red Sox would not win another championship with out him, so far so good (or is it so far so bad?).

So is there a "Bartman" curse now? Since Bartman supposedly blew the game for the Cubs. I find it a little odd after he interfered the team melted. Including Prior giving up the runs and Alex Gonzalez bobbling the ball which could have got them out of the inning.

Maybe having Bartman come back to Wrigley and sacrificing a goatee, could hex both curses?
