Babe Ruth did not hit the first Inside the Park Home Run, he did however hit the first-and only Infield Home Run, while i'm not sure who hit the very first Inside the Park Home Run, i do know that on August 10 1882 a player named Dan Brouthers had two Inside the Park Home Runs, becoming the first player to ever have two in the same game.

How is it possible to hit an infield homerun? I mean, I just don't see how you could do it without there being errors.

If the stories are true, Ruth popped the ball up in the air over the infield, the infielders lost sight of the ball and ruth kept running, by the time the ball came down ruth was crossing the plate,
hence, the first infield Home Run.
