how to beat th e NYY WITHOUT a SALARY CAP

    its really quite simple

add more playoff slots for postseason

the purists will cry foul...but MLB already caved in with the realingment/wild card in 95

that way..the best team in the reg season may not always get the ring (the last 2 WS champs have been Wild Card)

Bummed that you're not on my ignore list yet?.....Don't worry, I'm sure you will be very soon.

I think that's why MLB implemented the best of 5 divisional series.
A lot can happen in a race to three wins. Many teams are against it, most notable are the Yankees.
If a wild card team goes into a best of 5 with a stud pitcher and he wins two games for you, now you only have to take one out of the final 3.
For example, The Yanks don't have that ace they can feel confident about taking two wins. The Red Sox have two of them.

I'd feel pretty confident in a 5 game series with Mussina, Brown and Vazquez if I were the Yankees.

EDIT: The Yankees don't have to worry about facing the Sox' two aces in a 5 game series, either, because it can never happen.

Would you feel confident going up against a Red Sox team with Schilling and Pedro?

If I had the starting pitching and the lineup the Yankees do to counter it, yes.

The yankees havent won a world series in 3 years, so obviously the system isnt as flawed as people think and there is a way to beat the yankees...good pitching will always beat good hitting
