    its really quite simple

add more playoff slots for postseason

the purists will cry foul...but MLB already caved in with the realingment/wild card in 95

that way..the best team in the reg season may not always get the ring (the last 2 WS champs have been Wild Card)

The yankees havent won a world series in 3 years, so obviously the system isnt as flawed as people think and there is a way to beat the yankees...good pitching will always beat good hitting

I'm sorry K Gun i'm a hard liner I don't want MORE playoffs. Look at it this way, the way the playoffs are structured right now the yanks have lost. The way to beat the Yanks is to build an organization with a strong minor league system, sabremetrics minded GM, (Boston and Toronto have these) good managing, and good team chemistry and character guys who have the will to win. (The Jays have built a ballclub surrounded by quality guys. Some are leaders and others are quiet guys who lead by example)

Exactly. We go through this every year with the Yankees. Not to slight them, but they are expected to win the World Series every spring but have yet to do it in the fall the past three seasons.
The pressure on the Yankees to win it this year is greater than any other they have ever felt.
George is scared. Boston took them to the brink last year and are breathing down their necks. George will not be outdone, he's going to do whatever possible to make sure the Red Sox don't surpass the Yankees and to bring another world title to New York. We've come to expect this from him, it's nothing new. We shouldn't be surprised by what he does anymore, it's become routine.
This team almost guarantees a playoff birth for the Yanks but we all expected them there in the end, however, it doesn't even come close to guaranteeing a world series title.

I agree. The Yankees on paper are a fantastic team, but they still have to play 162 games and win 3 series to be champions....I do like their chances with A-Rod, but who thought the Angels would beat them 2 years ago and the Marlins too last year???

One of the few things MLB does right is its playoff format. The NFL can get away with having two Wild Card teams and 4 divisions per league because they only play one game instead of a best of 5 or 7 game series. The NBA and NHL playoffs are rediculous because of the amount of teams that get in that are mediocre and don't belong.

I think MLB needs a salary cap but the Player's Union will never allow it. The owners would have to be courageous enough to adopt one and allow a strike to occur and let the stars leave the game for one to be implemented and I just don't see that happening.
