Re: how to beat th e NYY WITHOUT a SALARY CAP

One of the few things MLB does right is its playoff format. The NFL can get away with having two Wild Card teams and 4 divisions per league because they only play one game instead of a best of 5 or 7 game series. The NBA and NHL playoffs are rediculous because of the amount of teams that get in that are mediocre and don't belong.

I think MLB needs a salary cap but the Player's Union will never allow it. The owners would have to be courageous enough to adopt one and allow a strike to occur and let the stars leave the game for one to be implemented and I just don't see that happening.

Can you imagine how mad George will be if the don't get a ring this year? Much less miss the playoffs.

I honestly don't see this Yankee team winning the World Series. I think they will lack the heart to do it. I think it starts and ends with Joe Torre and I don't think he's happy. I think Steinbrenner has taken the team away from him. They will lose in the playoffs again next season.

The baseball playoff system is perfect and doesn't need any more modification. The idea is not to develope a system that makes it harder for the regular season champion to win the World Series. If that were the case, the importance of the regular season would greatly diminish, and pennant races would lose a lot of their lustre.

The Yankees will always try to buy the title. Sometimes it will work, and sometimes it won't. When it doesn't, it will be that much sweeter for baseball fans, 99% of which are Yankee haters.
