Not gonna happen. Maddux won't play in the AL. He's shown extreme patience all winter long and I'm sure he'll wait until he gets the right offer from an NL team that needs him.

As of last night, the Cubs had raised their offer to Maddux and all the other teams had either stopped talking to him or had their offers rejected. The Cubs GM and Boras were meeting for several hours and said they hoped to have a deal done in the next couple days.

That was on MLB.com last night at about midnight. Sounds like this Yankee thing is just a rumor/paranoia after the A-Rod thing.

You never know, it only took them 2 days to seal a deal for ARod.
If I'm Maddux, why not go to the AL? Don't have to worry about hitting.
Of course, the determining factor will be money.

He's said over and over again that the determining factors are (in order):

                  1. Where he and his family want to live/play

                  2. The chance of making it to the World Series

                  3. Money

I don't think NY is his first pick as far as location, but they do have the other two.

i doubt this will happen, im pretty sure maddux wants to stay in the NL but hey i didnt think they would trade for arod either, i think the yankees are done till the season starts but im sure they will make 1 or two moves in the middle of the season maybe for a second basemen (depending on how boone is doing) and maybe a left handed starting pitcher. i doubt they will sign maddux

I think the local guys in Chicago on ESPN Radio said it best on Saturday when they said, "You don't wait to sign a contract until February the 14th or later and have it NOT be about the money."
