That's typical AI. If you guys were to land Maddux you wouldn't shut up about it for a week. Now that it looks like you won't, he's a six inning man. LOL!

What the hell are you talking about? Who the hell is going to get excited about Maddux for a week? I would have agreed if this was 10 years ago, but now that he's washed up? I'll pass. I seen him to many times last season, where after 60+ pitches, he called it a night.

Bk, yes, Jon Lieber definetely is a better investment. For a 5th guy, he won't cost as much, nor will he ask for his personal catcher and neither will he hand it off to the bullpen after 80 pitches. He can't possibly be worse than Maddux nor any other 5th starter.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

AI, Lieber is making over $2 million this year and he didn't even pitch an inning last year. You call that a good investment? What happens when teams stack up lefties against him (assuming he pitches at all). Have you looked at his career OPS vs. lefties? Maddux was 5th in the NL in wins last year, with a better than league average ERA. 5th starter? C'mon.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Comparing his 2 mill and what it will take to sign Maddux, probably more than 7 mill. and I guarantee it won't be for just one year, that makes the Lieber investment now looking very good. Hey, for a 5th starter he'll do, and heck, he won't ask Posada to sit every 5th day. Are you kidding me? He never wanted to come to AL nor NY, so why the heck do I want him now?! Let him take his Cub *** back to Chicago where he belongs, the fans will be ecstatic to have him. I would first give Lieber, who's now 17 months since he had the TJ and throwing well, and a young starter DePaula get their chance. Yankees don't need Maddux's 80P-6IP oldself.
I still believe this pitching staff will do better than everyone anticipates, particularly Lieber will do better than Maddux does in Wrigley. You can quote me on that. Besides, how does the signing of Greg Maddux solve our scarce of LHP? Not that I believe in that BS anyways.

maddux is much better than john lieber but i dont think he is worth alot of money which he wants now at 38 years old i think. i bet he will end up with the cubs, who i think are going to have a good team this year. id love to see a yankee cub world series in october best pitching team vs best hitting team it would be exciting

I never thought Maddux was the answer for the Yankees pitching questions.

But the fact remains it's by far the weakest part of their team.

Hey, I never said Maddux was worth $7-8 million or whatever he is asking to sign. I was merely refuting your comment that Jon Lieber is better than Greg Maddux. I would most certainly be willing to bet that Maddux has a better year than Lieber, based on some agreed upon statistics (Wins, WHIP, ERA - Run Support, Innings pitched, etc.)

Nah, what would matter to me is Lieber's W-L. I would take you up on the offer that Lieber will have more wins then Maddux will and less losses.I really don't care about his ERA or anything else, because I know he'll get good run support as every Yankee pitcher will this season. Ultimately, I just want him to win those games.
