The Yankees have been spending big money forever now, it doesn't always equal a title (ask the Mets). So there offense (on paper) should be amazing this year, but in my opinion they have too many question marks on pitching.

A salary cap will never work.

            First and foremost it will:

            1. Never be accepted by the MLBPA
            2. Only give some owners more reason to not spend money.

Instead, the real answer are simple:

            1. Player salary cap (maybe 10 million)
            2. Floor (the most important...you have to prevent teams from spending as little as they want.)
            3. Two more teams in New York (maybe one in upstate New York and I guess one in New Jersey).
            4. REAL Broadcast/Ticket Revenue Sharing. (as it is right now, the Yankees keep all their broadcast money and a huge share of their ticket sales. You want it even? 50/50 both ways.)
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

The problem with much of what you have said is that it will cause an increase in ticket prices. They need a floor and a salary cap. While the baseball players union is the strongest among the major sports it seems to be weakening. Steriod testing is evidence of that.

Um, baseball is maxed out as it is YP. Instead of adding teams in NY maybe they should move the Devil Rays or Marlins to NY. Hopefully Brooklyn.

I agree with a player salary cap and a Salary floor tho.

As NBA stands now, no East team has a chance at the title. The West is so much superior to the East, it's not a joke. By the logic shared by this "baseball" fan, much less a "diehard baseball fan" , I can just as easily create a thread in the NBA forum announcing that I'm going to stop watching NBA because my eastern team, nor any other team in the East, doesn't have a lick of chance to beat a team out from the west, but nah, I'm more of a fan that that.
