Baseball is really going to have a black eye after all this. The money situation, and now all the steroid use coming out. This is really going to hurt baseball.

No surprise here. Sheffield "worked out" with Bonds for the past two offseasons, and is buddy-buddy with him. Will be interesting to see how the fallout affects Bonds' place in history. Certainly, HOF voters may not appreciate the fact that he hit a TON of homeruns while on the sauce.

When Barry Bonds' name is finally revealed, which it will be, the fallout is going to be severe for him. His HR record will be tainted, and hopefully, stricken from the record books, or given an *.

As for Sheffield, Giambi and others, it won't be as bad. Thier past numbers will be scrutinized, but they don't hold the most visible record in MLB. The NFL has players suspended all the time for steroids and it doesn't affect the public perception of that league. The key is the status the player holds in the sport. Bonds is seen as the best hitter in baseball, and has recently risen to a place as one of the all-time greats. His fall could be long and hard, and the black mark on baseball could be a big one.

If his name is revealed....which i agree will be an enormous hit to his reputation...i dont think there is any way to tell how many homers he hit before he started using steroids, or how many he hit after he started using steroids...and in the same way with a plaer like Mark McGwire there is no way to say that when he hit 70 homers he wasnt on steroids.

There is no way to tell when the steroids started playing a part in Bond's power surge, but i think it's safe to say that his 73 HR season is definately going to be put under the microscope. Most players hit their peak in their late 20's, and then see a steady decrease in production. Bonds' production actually rose in his mid 30's. Freak of nature or steroid induced greatness? He'll be dealing with that question for the rest of his life, and he should.
