I know everyone is tired of this subject but im curious...

Who do you think got the better of the deal in the Arod trade. Texas or New York?
Texas gets a lot of free cap space plus a great second baseman. i mean when you look at what soriano has done, he has done very well, hes a contact/power hitter with speed. and then u send him to a hitters park and he does even better.
New York on the other hand gets Arod, one of the best, if not the best players in baseball today. But now he will have to play third base, which will be alot harder then his original position at short stop. He might do good behind the plate, but i expect plenty of costly errors.

    Okay, I'll bite...

First off, there is no cap space to be had in baseball (part of the problem right there).

I think the Yankees are better off in the short run. Though I don't think ARod will be as good of a third baseman as he was a shortstop. Plus, he's going to have a much tougher time hitting in Yankee Stadium than in The Ballpark.

In the long run, Texas makes off with a younger player (well, 2 years older, but still...). Of course, the Yankees have never really cared much for long term. They'll probably buy back Soriano in a couple of years if he's the best second baseman around then...

You lost me the second you called Soriano a contact hitter. In the last three seasons he's struck out, 125 times, 157 times and 130 times.

I don't know, it was good for both teams. I guess the Rangers, because they had to get rid of Arod, while the Yankees didn't really need another bat.

no wonder pedro always gets so many stike outs, heck he has probably got like 20 strikeouts alone by just striking soriano out

I have to say the Rangers...they saved some dough and got a great second basemen in return, a guy who can help put runs on the board almost as well as Arod. True it means the Rangers will do even worse, but who expected them to "flourish" with Arod? As far as decisions go, compared to ones they have made in the past, this one most recently made here by the Rangers is pretty damned good. For a team that doesn't know what the hell they're doing, it was a good move.

I also have to say that I don't expect much improvement on the Yankees either way. When you ask which is the better Shortstop defensively and offensively, the answer is Arod. He protexcts the hole like nobody can. People, countless Yankee fans infact, have been complaining for years about Jeter's defense....yet they have a chance to move him to an area where he could flourish with less to worry about, and they keep him at short? Idiots? Yes. With Arod at short and Jeter at 3rd, nothing's gonna get through. With Jeter at short, you're still going to have the same old problems. Who's bright idea was it to pick up a second monster shortstop anyways? I mean, they needed a third basemen. It's not always smart to move players into positions they haven't played much AT ALL in their careers. True, getting Arod under and circumstance is awesome, but this one kindof has me thrown for a loop. Then to say they're going to leave their problem where it is when they had a chance to permanantly get rid of it for good? Heh....maybe by 2005 they'll wise up when they don't win jack, and put Arod where he's supposed to be. Sorry Jeter, mister "team leader", but defensively your team has the better chance with you at third. deny this and fail, just as your team has done the past 4 years. There's something to be said for spending money like it's going out of stlye mister Steinbrenner, but there's also something to be said for being completely mind numbingly pig-headed. The end.
