David Price was fantastic in his return tonight:

    7.0 IP - 3 H - 0 R - 0 BB - 10 K - 70-48 pitches/strikes

Only took him 70 pitches to retire 21 batters. He was also consistently hitting 95-96 on the gun with his fastball.

A healthy Price will be HUGE for the Rays down the stretch.

      Congrats to Homer Bailey!

On the other hand....Gee thanks Wang for stealing a win from the Jays.

It would also be huge for my fantasy team!

That being said, it was the Astros...

Braves offense slowly but surely gelling. I hope, anyway.

Seems like Good Upton is getting back to being Good Upton again.

Puig is going to make a lot of mistakes early in his career but when those mistakes turn out positive its fun to watch.

case in point stretches a single into a double then scores from second base on a bobbled out to first, when he should have been nailed at the plate by a mile

Max Scherzer is having a season for the ages, if the Tigers offense can help him out there's no telling what his W-L total will be this year. Hopefully this doesn't become this generation's version of Mickey Lolich.

Yankees fans must LOVE seeing the Twins on their schedule!

I believe Gardenhire is now 23-69 vs. the Yankees.

I know Yaisel Puig has been a big story, but also do not overlook Hanley Ramirez. He is hitting .500 since his return from the DL and just been on fire. Very batting champion of old Hanley like.

Crush hit #32 and Scott Feldman didn't suck. I'll take it.

Hopefully he stays away from the DL.

                          you're absolutely right, can't overlook Hanley he's hitting .412/.446/.753 in 92 PAs.

He is happy and loves being around his teammates, so the rebirth of 2009 Hankly isn't that far fetched.

One is 13-0 because his team scores runs, the other is 3-6 because his team doesn't.

Your secret pitcher has also given up 21 more hits and 7 more walks.

In either case, Scherzer's season is good, but certainly not one for the ages. See Pedro 1997 or 2000 for a "one for the ages" season. Even Darvish has some better numbers so far than Scherzer (113.1 IP, 2.78 ERA 1.01 WHIP, 151 K). Wins does not a season make, as chaos pointed out.

                                1999 Pedro was better.

Darvish walks a lot more batters than Scherzer. Scherzer has had the better season.

When you take into account walk rates, Adam Wainwright has probably had the best season this year. He's walked 12 batters all year and has 114 strikeouts. By comparison Darvish has walked 37 batters and Scherzer has walked 26.
