Absolutely. Barry Bonds is, hands DOWN, the best player in baseball today. ARod is up there, dont get me wrong, probably behind Bonds, but Bonds strikes fear into pitchers that ARod doesnt really do. Who else commands the special attention that Bonds does? Bonds is what, 38? And he's putting up amazing numbers still. He's racking up those MVP's like its nothing, and is well on his way (barring injury), to breaking Hank's record. He's the only one to hit 500 homers and have 500 stolen bases. Hell, Bonds might not only be the best in the game today, I think when all is said and done, he could be viewed as one of the best ever, and by one of, I mean top 5. The guy is an amazing specimen. Scary thing is he's still going strong, even when he's pushing ages. He can still play defense w/ the best of them. Just amazing.

Bonds is not the best player hands down. Maybe the best offensive player, but I think the term being used would shed light on all aspects of the game. Not just what a guy can do at the plate.
As for ARod, he's ARGUABLY the best player in the game, but then so is Pujols, Bonds, Vlad, and so on. You could argue a good point for all of them and maybe some others.

Barry Bonds threw a two hopper from deep short and couldn't throw out Sid "Slower Than My Granny" Breem!!!! Barry Bonds is a great hitter. He is NOT the best player in baseball.

Dammit Clay - Don't remind us Pirate fans of that dreaded day!!! I'll never forget Francisco Cabrera getting that hit off of Stan Belinda and Barry doing his best impersonation of throwing a grenade to home.

I have to agree that Bond's is not the best all around player. That does go to Arod. Bond's is the best hitter in the game right now. There's no doubt about that. When you factor in difficulty of position and factor that SS is the most difficult position to play on the diamond, Arod is the best all around player. Statistically speaking, SS is a position where you have the most chances to make a mistake so it's weighted more than LF which makes the SS position more valuable.

Bonds is the best hitter in baseballe. Behind hi I'd put Albert Pujols and Manny Ramirez, pure hitters. A-Rod is a great power hitter, he's not the best at making a pitcher work. Because of his defense, speed, and position he gets a lot more attention. He definitly belongs in the discussion of who the best player in the game is.
