Why does everyone else in baseball see the Yankees as "Evil"??
Everyone thinks of Steinbrenner as a reckless spender because he goes out and buys talent. I have a few arguements for this.
1. Many of the players who have been so important in the Yankees' recent years weren't "bought", but were developed in their Farm System. Were Pettitte, Soriano, Jeter, Posada, Bernie bought from anywhere. No, they came from our farm system.
2. At least our owner, as harsh as he may be, doesn't pocket his money like other owners do, he spends it to improve our franchise, instead of buying himself boats with it. Just because Steinbrenner likes to win, labels him as "evil"? Someone please tell me that they themselves don't mind losing, because I really don't see how wanting to win makes him evil.
3. We're in New York, our franchise is supposed to have money. Meanwhile we have another team in this state who genreates as much money as we do, but are they considered evil, no. If the small market teams have a problem competing, that shouldn't be blamed on the Yankees. They are doing the best with what they have, which is a lot. Smaller teams don't have a lot of money to work with, but they have to do the best with what they have.
It's kind of like life, where we have millionares, and homeless people out on the streets. Why aren't people complaining that the homeless can't have as good of a life as the millionares, because they don't have money? No one should be blamed for what they have, just because you don;'t have it, Thats life, and I'm not trying to disrespect the homeless because many factors can put them on the streets, but I am just using this as an anology.
I also dislike the fact that as soon as the Red Sox win a World Series, Yankee fans won't hear the end of it. Yet the Yankees can win 10 in a row and the Sox fans will say "Well, they're expected to win." In sports, nothing is expected. If you wanna look at payrolls or lineups on paper, that doesn't mean anything. Its about how you play on the field, so no one should be expected to win anything.
I understand that rivals dislike each other but it shoudn't be blamed on money and power, its a game, and rivals should just dislike each other for that reason, because they are rivals, or they want revenge for being knocked out of the playoffs, or we hurt their star player, etc.
It shouldn't be about anything else. It sports, a game, but also a business. And baseball's business is just like any other big business, and thats how it is.
Thats my 2 cents.

Long read.
Go Yankees
