canada is somewhat socialistic and its one of the greatest countries in the world. Higher than america in most if not all UN rankings.

Salary cap is neccessary in All sports. Big markets are doing just fine in nba and nfl.

One thing that needs to be tossed out of any baseball discussion is any mention of the NFL. It is way too different an animal for comparison.

There are 16 games a year, so ALL are highly anticipated, most will sell out, regardless of the team's quality, and all will be on at least regional television, again, because it's part of the fabric of an American Sunday afternoon.

Baseball games happen 162 times per year, at all times of the day and the week, leading to a much greater disparity of attendance percentages and TV viewership...

Why does everyone complain that the Yankees have a stacked team and are in it every year when in basketball the Lakers are stacked, and in hockey the Avs are stacked and they are both in it every year?

Because no other team in sports can match the Yankees clout. Try to find another team who gets an extra $50+ million per year for a TV contract. The Yankees are playing in the biggest market in the nation have the biggest TV revenue by far. That is why no one can touch the Yankees.

Hate them how you will (Lord knows I cannot stand the Yankees), but you have to respect the Yankees and Steinbrenner. He is putting a lot of the profits he is turning back into his team. When the Yanks think they have a deal, they seal it rather than dilly-dallying.

And also, think about this. Would the Yankees have Giambi if Oakland had given him a no-trade clause in his contract? No. Would the Yankees have A-Rod or Contreras if Boston had decided to eat a little more money? No. They would both be in Boston.

What I don't understand is...if Boston's payroll is already $120~$125 million, what would be a little more given up to get A-Rod. And, why not let the league's best player use your logo for marketing purposes?

The Yankees didn't balk at either option, and lookie, lookie who they got!

Yes but in Basketball and Hockey 16 teams make the playoffs every year, thats half of each league, so you can't really compare, the complaint about the Yankees having a stacked lineup is the field of competition becomes smaller, if you were to put Baseball under the same playoff format as these two sports, 16 teams, 8 from each league, if 8 teams from the A.L. could make the playoffs i don't think this would be such a big issue.

It's really stupid to compare MLB to NFL. There is a huge difference between two sports. I tried doing that, and I certainly pointed out the schedule and even the drafts, but it's best not to even go that far. No point in comparing NHL or MLB, and maybe even NBA to NFL.
