    The Future of Baseball

I was debating whether or not to make this as a blog post but I felt that this really belonged on the Forums. As I was sitting in Citi Field yesterday watching the Derby and seeing all the players warming up a sense of excitement came over me. For the first time In a while I think Baseball's future is going to be amazing. We have so many very young stars in the game now that I can only imagine what it's going to be like when they hit their prime. Players like Machado, Harper, Trout, Harvey I could go on and on about all these young studs that the MLB has now. Even a player like Clayton Kershaw who has been around for a while now is only 25. I don't know what it is but this feeling in my gut tells me within the next 10 years or so we are going to see some really great baseball.

I couldn't agree more, this youth infusion is unprecedented, I can't remember ever having so many young players contributing all at once, at such a high degree.

I said the same thing to myself about a month ago. After Bonds was out of the game, as much as I loved the sport, I had to land on a new favorite player. The most exciting young player I ran into at the time was Jason Heyward, and I'll stick with him as long as his presence keeps me invigorated. That allows me to say that for at least twelve more years, baseball can't possibly not be at its most exciting time.

Combined with all of the other players, there really is no telling how great it will be for now and forever more. I love baseball more than life itself.

I don't understand how some people don't like baseball. All the history and the greatness that has transcended time itself. You watch the young kids come up through the minors and make it to the major's and before you know it 15 years have passed and the guy is nearing retirement. I get a real sense of enjoyment seeing that these young players are putting up great numbers and will probably continue to do so for some time.

will be at the Reds/Giants double header on Tuesday, something that the game sorely needs to bring back

I'd love to see built in doubleheaders in the schedule myself. Maybe have every team in the league play 3-4 doubleheaders a year that are pre-scheduled.

As to the topic, I agree wholeheartedly. MLB has finally gotten a crop of young, exciting players who seem to love the game and don't seem as cynical or overly distrustful of the media as the generation before it. If these guys can keep their noses cleans (criminal activity, PEDs what have you) than this is the crop of players that should bring in new fans for years to come.

I would like this too. And say fans could buy one ticket ticket to two games and save a certain percentage on the face value.

that's how tomorrow's Red/Giants double header is working out to be. Considering Reds are home the first game could have a lot to do with it.

                  It is exciting.

Not only are all the young stars going to keep things exciting, but the game is being cleaned up at the same time.

Actually, by the rules of previously unscheduled double-headers, the second game is the makeup game.

So in Game 2, you'll see the Giants wearing their road jerseys and batting first.

I can't ever see myself not following baseball closely, especially now because the O's are finally good again and one of the biggest young stars in the game is playing at 3rd base for us every day.

I would like to see some changes though. Scheduled doubleheaders, balanced schedule, DH rule in the NL, and teams back in Montreal and Brooklyn.

Don't you ever suggest the abomination of a rule called the designated hitter for the National League ever again.

Better learn to love it. It'll be there sooner or later. That way the National League can join the rest of organized baseball.
