    MLB History had 94 happened

Lets assume for a second that the 1994 MLB season didn't end with the strike and they actually played out the entire season. How diff do you think MLB history might have been had the season played out?

Could Griffey Jr have reached 50HRs(one of the youngest players ever to hit 50HRs,on the list with Mays,Foxx,Kiner,Mantle for guys who were younger than 25 to hit 50HR) and won MVP(being one of the 20 youngest players to win the MVP)?

Chicago White Sox were the 2nd best team in the entire AL(their WS drought could've ended a decade earlier).

KC Royals might have also made the playoffs(would've been their 1st in almost a decade).

Texas Rangers could've had the worst record to make playoffs(below .500 but were division leader cause AL West SUCKED that year)

Might the White Sox have brought Michael Jordan up to the MLB at end of season(even if it was for a single game) not due to him being good, just cause they could have Michael Jordan in the MLB.

How diff could the entire Montreal Expos franchise have been if the MLB continued the 94 season and Expos would've won division/made playoffs(they were baseballs best team at the time).

So if the 94 season did finish out, do people think it would've had a huge impact(or any impact at all) in MLB history in terms of franchise changing moments, career changing moments or anything? Expos as a playoff team could've drew more interest from other players who might have signed there(not to mention, give the franchise their 2nd ever playoff berth). Same thing could be said for a team like the Royals. Might more players had been interested in joining KC had the Royals actually made the playoffs(and possibly make it to the World Series)?

I believe Tony Gwynn would have hit .400 that year, he finished with a .394 average, and he definitely had the tools and bat placement to do it.

The 1994 season had such great stories.
Matt Williams was actually leading the league in homeruns at the strike with 43.
You had Thomas, Bagwell, Bonds, Griffey, Gwynn, Puckett, etc all hitters playing extremely well.

For MVP, I think Thomas would still get it unless the Mariners made a spark to get into the playoffs, the AL West was atrocious then. The Mariners pitching was just awful, beyond awful. Even with Randy Johnson it was awful.

Then in the NL, not enough love was given to Greg Maddux for his masterful season. But this was when people were astonished at all the offensive numbers, and couldn't believe what some of these guys were doing. Matt Williams probably had a good chance at hitting 60 homeruns that year at his pace. Bagwell was tearing the cover off the ball.

The Expos most likely would've made the playoffs, and had a good, young team to maybe spark something in the postseason, causing ownership to maybe look at keeping players to fuel a very successful team.
Keep in mind, after this season, Larry Walker signed with the Rockies, Marquiss Grissom with the Braves, Wetteland to the Yankees, Ken Hill went elsewhere.

I can't believe how much talent was on that 1994 Expos team. They basically had 3 All Star closers on that team, in Rojas, Wetteland and Jeff Shaw, an All Star OF in Alou, Grissom and Walker, solid position players, solid and young starting pitching in Ken Hill, Pedro Martinez, Kirk Rueter and then the vet Jeff Fassero.

That Expos team was insane. I like the Nats mostly bc of location (right in my back yard... but will always be second to the O's in my heart) but I think I would've followed them wherever they ended up bc of that Expos team. It's really a shame they couldn't keep them in Montreal... and together.

Albert Belle could have put up back to back 50-50 Seaons (needed 14 HRs and 15 2B in his last 56 Games not including if the Indians would have made the playoffs

Not just that, it'd have most likely have been against the Yankees. The Expos winning or at the very least being in the World Series wouldn't necessarily stop the fire sale though it wouldn't have been so big of one. It would also put pressure on Montreal politicians and the like to help finance a new stadium and the Expos would still be around today.

The strike of '94 literally killed a franchise as it's been roughly estimated that about 30% of the fanbase in Montreal were so turned off by what happened that they NEVER came back.

The 94 season could've completely altered the course of the Royals franchise. They were on the cusp of making it to the playoffs and this is widely regarded as their last truly legit chance of making it to the playoffs. If they go to the postseason, maybe they don't deconstruct the team and we're actually more competitive for longer and become a legit franchise.

To me, it's really the Royals last high point up until this year and that's sad.

I've heard that sound 3 times... once was Babe Ruth, the second was Josh Gibson, and the third was Bo Jackson- Buck O'Neil

Stuff like that is the big questions. Imagine how diff MLB would be if the Royals and Expos were the teams of the mid-late 90s instead of the Yankees/Braves.

The Braves would have been the Braves regardless of how 1994 played out...I also don't know that the Expos would have won the East. They were 48 games to go and the Expos had been hot when the strike hit (19-3 over their last 22), but the Braves had really underperformed and I think it would have been a great race. We'll never know...
