Ruth and Mantle had one thing in common, they were both Alcaholics, Ruth just because, and Mantle to kill the pain in his legs, Gehrig was never really the power hitter the other two were, so i do not think he used, we don't know if Bonds, Giambi Sosa or any one else has or has not used, but i think this is a matter that Baseball needs to address once and for all, if it's an issue about image, the leagues image gets worse and worse every year, test the players and come clean with the answers, who tested possitive and who didn't, and maybe we wont have to see Gary Sheffield on t.v. saying he'll pee in a cup anytime anywhere.

Re: We should kill baseball altogether, then bring it back in five years

Leave it to EROD overreact. When the dust settles and we actually have some real evidence maybe even a confession or two, life will go on.

If some of the guys that have been mentioned are guilty, It is disapointing but not surprising when we know that steroid use has been in all sports for a very long time.

This whole issue is just made for the media and sanctomonious types like EROD, it's baseball people, it is a competitive sport and people have and always will try things both legal and illegal to get an edge. But oh now we have our issue that we can whine and wring our hands about the integrity of the game and the moral decline of society and all this other nonsense.

You think in 5 years human nature will change?

Overreact? Cookusu, I would think you'd be right on board with me here.

Yes, it bothers me a lot that every major league home record has been broken in the past six years.

How many guys have beaten Maris' 61 homers now? Aren't we up to like 36 now in six years? I'm exagerrating, but it won't be long until that's right.

And all by roided out cheaters. Argh.

The beauty of baseball is in its records, particularly power hitting. They mean nothing anymore.

Home runs are so anti-clamactic now. It's sad.

Sosa changed his batting stance, and his homers took off.
