Finally official. Phillies sign Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez. Contract has been changed from 6 years $48 million to 3 years $12 million with a vesting option for a 4th year.

Orioles got Mike Morse from the Mariners for Xavier Avery...probably won't play until Sunday.

How in the hell could C.C have fallen off so much, How do you go from an ace to one of the worst pitchers in the league. Something happened to this guy.

Maybe all that workload just gassed him, but this is seriously disturbing to watch, this guy has always been a horse, and the man when we needed a good pitching performance, and now he's in Bud Norris territory.

Edit: C.C has gotten 7 runs of support today, if he can't hold that.

I really like Jose Fernandez, as a player and as a person.

            That is all.

This isn't that surprising. C.C. always seemed like a big guy who probably takes care of himself as minimally as he can. He got away with it in his younger days but the combination of not exactly being fit and being worked like a horse for most of his career meant that he was going to hit into a massive decline.

I can't see him pitching much beyond age 36 at least not effectively.

It is considering how quick it happened, he's had a major decline almost overnight ala Linecum.

                      Todd Helton again.

                      2-4, 2 HR's, 6 RBI. Now just 1 hit shy of 2,500.

That was an awesome game. Helton ended up coming up again the next inning. Runners on 2nd and 3rd, 1 out. Everyone was standing, cheering.. I had goosebumps watching it, even though it had no impact on the result of the game at all. He ended up striking out, but it was special to watch.

He said after the game he was definitely trying to hit a HR in that AB haha. That place would've went nuts if he hit his 3rd HR of the game, getting his 7th, 8th, and 9th RBI of the game, and his 2,500th career hit.

Sounds like a Colorado version of "Casey at the bat"

Hello, My name is Chris Curtis... I've started something called Michigan Sports Beat. It's a broadcast that provides alternate play-by-play for MLB, NBA, NFL, and NHL games in the Detroit Area. I'm looking to build my audience and would like to invite you to go to the facebook page at facebook.com/misportsbeat for more info... I aim to do the Tigers/Indians Game on 8/31 as a sample for you as to what you can expect... the broadcast will be at youtube.com/misportsbeat and you can listen to previous broadcasts there as well as listen to the live feeds of new ones. I welcome opinions as well and hope to hear from you on the page

Lot of big series this weekend: Cards/Pirates, Rays/A's, Indians/Tigers, O's/Yanks.

So Sunday Night Baseball decides to showcase... Mets vs Nationals. Well done, ESPN.
