Ugh.
9th Inning. 2 Outs. 3-2 Count.

And again marks the difference between a perfect game and a no-hitter. On the 3-2 payoff pitch, Petit can't dare leave the strike zone or go away from the fastball. Somebody throwing a no-hitter? Hammer one into the dirt, no problem. Oh, and there's that whole "pressure on the defense" thing.
No-hitters are criminally overrated, and perfect games are criminally underrated. Never, ever should they be mentioned under the same breath.

Re: 9/2 - 9/8 Game Discussion Thread
I don't think every team needs a game. I understand it's ratings uber alles, and I don't mind if the first half of the season focuses on marquee teams. But after the All-Star break, SNB should involve worthy matchups involving a variety of contenders, whether small markets or big. It's inexcusable that ESPN hasn't shown a Pirates game yet.

Re: 9/2 - 9/8 Game Discussion Thread
I don't really think every team needs a game either.. my main point was that they should spread out the coverage a bit. Then again, I've been saying this about ESPN for years about basically every sport. "Let's talk about the NY Jets for the entire season, even though they are garbage!"

Re: 9/2 - 9/8 Game Discussion Thread
Who cares about what ESPN shows anymore. Don't you people have MLB Network*? TBS? Local networks? MLBTV?
ESPN has been rendered baseball-useless a long time ago.
Not to mention I don't care if I see Yankees/Red Sox a thousand times. It's relevant baseball. Much like there is a perceived "Northeast Bias", there's also a very real anti-Northeast bias by too many people who don't realize that the biggest rivalry in the sport is very clearly going to receive the most attention especially considering both teams are almost always relevant.
