And Trout had an even better season last year and lost in a landslide to Cabrera.

This is the BBWAA we're talking about. Teams standings matter...and they matter alot. Davis is racking up monster traditional stats (48 HRs, 120+ RBIs) on a team that has a very good possibility of making the playoffs, while Trout's team will struggle to finish .500. Throw in the fact that Trout, like last year, derives alot of his value in non-sexy, sabermetrically-inclined ways (defense, baserunning, positional value, walking alot, etc.) and I wouldn't be shocked to see Davis finish ahead of Trout.

Regardless, the AL MVP race is already over. Unlike last year, I wouldn't have a huge problem with the result since Cabrera is having one of the better hitting seasons in recent memory.
