Well at least he still cares about baseball. There are loads of people who have simply turned off on baseball because of its ineptitudes culminating with 1994. So there is a larger picture than simply being loyal to your team. Besides, who is the ex-Twins fan obligated to? Isnt this a two way street? Shouldnt Pohlad have to earn fan support instead of whine and cry? It gets even more dubious where Pohlad is concerned regarding the proposed contraction a couple of years ago. Why is it that owners buy sports franchises with the idea in mind that it is another business? If you have the money to buy a team to begin with it should be a passionate pursuit and not a proprietary one. Also, I wouldnt vote for a new stadium if I were in Minnesota until Pohlad sold the team. Just look at Milwaukee to see an example of how devoted the owners are to putting the money back in the team once they have a new stadium.

Re: A sad day for a former Twins fan.
If the Twins closed their doors tommorow, i could never be a Tribe fan. Or a White Sox fan. Or an A's fan. I hate those teams with a passion. They are our rivals, and i've spent years hating them (as a TRUE) Twins fan.
The Victory Sports thing has me angry as well, and i won't be spending one dime on the Twins until that situation is resolved. If the game is on TV, i'll watch. If I get free tickets, i'll go. I'll certainly tune in on radio, as well. I support the team, but i don't support Pohlad and the business side of the Twins organization.
As for the team, i think people who assume the Twins got worse in the offseason are wrong. They may be worse this year, but just becasue we lost 2 players from the bullpen and our starting catcher doesn't necessarily make it so. We may be better. Is Guardado and elite closer? No. Is AJ irreplaceable? No. Latroy is our biggest loss, and a set-up man, while valuable, is not the make or break role on our team.
Joe Nathan has better "stuff" as a closer. His make-up? That's the question. Joe Mauer is a better defensive catcher than AJ. Will he hit as well? Maybe, maybe not. He'll come close, though. The RH set-up role just might go to Jesse Crain. I doubt he'll be better than Latroy, but he's promising.
Don't forget, we have Shannon Stewart in the leadoff spot all year, which allows Jaque Jones and his strikeouts to move down to a lower impact spot in the order. Can Torri, Koskie, Rivas or Guzman play as bad as they did last year? It's doubtfull. All 4 had poor seasons, and we still won the division. Don't count the Twins out.
On another note, i think it's time to stop saying the Central is weak. Everyone is better this season, and the division is deeper.Comment

Re: A sad day for a former Twins fan.
I'm not going to bash, but like many here, I could never comprehend switching my allegiance to a division rival. I'm a life-long Braves fan, and I could never, ever, EVER wake up and say, "I'm now a Phillies fan because they have a good owner." Or, "I'm a Marlins fan because they won the World Series." It just makes me feel... dirty (and I'm sure Marlins & Phillies fans would say the same thing).Comment

Way to stick it out man, you should be real proud of yourself. I've been a Padre fan since I was old enough to know what baseball was, and I have seen some rather lean years, but have never even considered dumping them. Nut up and support your team for God sake.

Padres fan here too. We had to live through the Tom Werner years. The only memorable thing he did when he owned the team was to bring Roseanne in to sing the national anthem. He was a TV producer who didn't even pretend like he was trying to field a winning team. I still get pissed when I see his name in the credits of "That 70's Show." Anyways, the point is a team is bigger than its owner. You don't renounce your citizenship beacause you don't like the President.XBL: TancComment

I dont think some of you are understanding this post.
its not about sticking threw the lean years and all i have no prob. with that i have done it for 10 years with the twins. its about the lack of any effort what so ever to improve the team. funny you bring up the padres. the trade for brian giles is something the current twins ownership would never even consider because "where a small market" bs that they use. the only team IMO that can compare to the TWINS is the PIRATES they also are making no effort to win.
this post isnt about switching teams i just wanted to make the point regardless of rivals teams that actually care about winning once in while.360 gamer tag: xxxRDZ WILDxxx

YOu make some valid points but i disagree with Joe Nathen i dont think we will get much out of him at all didnt like his stuff when he was with S.F. last year and not sure why we traded for him. Shouldn't we as fans expect more from owners when we put so much time and money into the team.
is it so much to ask that we go after a decent freeagent once in a blue moon, everyone else does why dont the Twins that is my question. are we the smallest market in the major leagues? No actually im pretty sure that the twin cities market is the 11th or 12 th largest T.V. market in the league. im not givingn up on the Twins, this had noting to do with the players I mean who plays harder then the Twins? i just want to see some effort out of the ownership please! at least in the next 10 years.
well ive said my peace im out!360 gamer tag: xxxRDZ WILDxxx
