Re: Hypothetical situation i cant find in the rule book

I remember in 1990 I think, it was the start before Dennis Martinez' perfect game. An Expos pitcher threw a no-hitter for nine innings yet lost the game. I believe he left the game after the 9th.

now that's a SUCKY day for a pitcher.

Andy Hawkins threw a no-no for the Yankees in the early 90's but also gave up 4 runs and lost.

actually i dont think now the count Andy Hawkins no-no as a no hitter anymore- rule has it that you have to pitch 9 innings - he went 8

Haddix actually pitched for the Pirates and had a perfect game through 12 innings... the Braves Felix Mantilla reached on an error to start the 13th, he was bunted to second, Hank Aaron was intentionally walked and Joe Adcock cranked a three-run homer... there is one last twist to the stroy however, as Adcock passed Aaron on the base paths and was credited with a double and a final score of 1-0...
