I remember in 1990 I think, it was the start before Dennis Martinez' perfect game. An Expos pitcher threw a no-hitter for nine innings yet lost the game. I believe he left the game after the 9th.

now that's a SUCKY day for a pitcher.

Mark Gardner was the pitcher, it was at Dodger Stadium.

It wasn't that long ago where Pedro Martinez threw a perfect game but then lost it in the 10th. I don't know if he won or lost the game though. I also remember when he took a no-no into the 9th against the Yankees and lost it with two outs, Scott Brosius (sp?) ended that. We got them back though when Carl Everet broke up Mussina's perfect game bid in the 9th.

how about Harvey Haddix, pitcher for the Braves in the 50's.. he went 14 innings w/ a no-no & lost

Haddix actually pitched for the Pirates and had a perfect game through 12 innings... the Braves Felix Mantilla reached on an error to start the 13th, he was bunted to second, Hank Aaron was intentionally walked and Joe Adcock cranked a three-run homer... there is one last twist to the stroy however, as Adcock passed Aaron on the base paths and was credited with a double and a final score of 1-0...

My sentiments exactly. Haddix had the worst luck EVER.

Didnt Daryle Kile throw a no hitter while giving up a run?

Yep. Here's a list of all the no hitters. Link
You'll notice that it was Houston 7, New York 1.

The closest Pedro Martinez got to a no hitter was when he went the full 9 innings yet the game went into extra innings because the Red Sox couldn't get a run. Anyone else remember that? Didn't he actually go all the way into the 10th or 11th? Anyway, I'd be so mad if I was Pedro.
