Did anyone associate the DL with actual disabled people? Might be less of a stretch, but it's still bizarre. Worried about offending animals with language.

Cleveland Barons is a better name. They should try to bring that back.

Longtime Red Sox announcer and fan favorite Jerry Remy passed away at 68 this morning after a battle with cancer; I always enjoyed listening to him call the game. RIP, Remdog.

Sad news. I'm not a Red Sox fan but I enjoyed listening to him on their games. He'll be missed.

Any name they use will feel weird, but I just don't like their logo so much. If it was a cool logo, I wouldn't mind the change as much.

I think their logo is an excuse to bring back Wahoo but as a Guardian.

What do we think of the "double hook" rule that is picking up steam? Personally, I think it would be a great compromise on the DH. It looks like the DH will be universal, but the double hook will be in place from what several sports writers are hearing.

The double hook rule works like this; you get a DH, but once the starting pitcher is removed you lose the DH. You can place the DH in the field, but the relief pitcher must be placed in the batting order. Here's why I think this rule would be helpful:

                    - It absolutely will remove the use of the "opener" from baseball. The advantage of having an ace reliever toss an inning or two is NOT worth losing your DH for 8-9 innings.

                    - It will cause managers to expect starters to go deeper into a game, which in turn the starters will have to adjust their pitching style to accommodate.

                    - Finally, it will create a new dimension of strategy for a manager to determine the right time to pull a starter. If you are in a tight, 1-0 game in the 7th, do you pull your starter and lose a David Ortiz type of player hoping your bullpen can hold the lead? Do you pull the starter and put that defensive liability in the field because you want to keep his bat in the lineup? It opens up all sorts of possibilities...

                    Anyway...curious everyone's thoughts.

I don’t like seeing pitchers hit and relievers get even fewer at bats than starters so I’m assuming they are even worse hitters. Seems like the worst case scenario to me but if they keep it in the NL, they can do whatever they want over there.

I'm for it. Never been a fan of the opener, and I'm in favor of managers having to make more tough decisions not fewer.

Right, keep that in the NL, don't bring that mess to us.

Pitchers would rarely hit. You’d just pinch hit for spot in the lineup where the DH was.

It’d be AL style for however long the starting pitcher was in and then NL style once the manager went to the bullpen.

I really like it as a compromise. I'm fine with the normal DH in both leagues but I think this is a possible "best of both worlds" idea

As long as we’re left out of it. I don’t want to see Tyler Wade doing anything but running or Rougned Odor doing anything but cheering in the dugout.
