They were using more lively baseballs for big matchups such as Red Sox-Yankees and Dodgers-Giants because they knew more eyes would be on those games, so they wanted more offense and excitement.

They were using less active "dead" balls for Kansas City-Detroit type matchups because there weren't as many viewers so "who cared about the amount of action".

Yo what?! Is this for real? That’s a bad, if unsurprising, look for baseball.

          Re: MLB Off-Topic

Saw it suggested on a MLBTR article, but it was just by players theorizing about what was going on.

Same article quotes MLB as saying the different balls were because of production issues related to the pandemic, but lot numbers and other identifiers for quality control blow that explanation up. It was plausible on the surface. Now it’s starting to look like the cover up after the “crime.” And crushing any credibility the league had.

          Here’s the article I’m referencing: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/...21-season.html

If they have a ball they think makes for a more exciting product, use it on every game. Jeez.
Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.

I’m admittedly naïve, but there is no way MLB could be dumb enough to selectively use a juiced ball for the bigger matchups

Rob Manfred is 1000% that dumb.

Did most teams pass on him too? He made 1.25m in that first year with Boston. I'd guess nobody offered him anything?

Unable to help himself with having just two former Rangers, Preller signs Nomar Mazara to a minor league contract.

                        Re: MLB Off-Topic

Good news, Jays are getting a new stadium.

Bad news, that new stadium is simply just a renovated Rogers Centre.

                        250m being invested into it.

Dont know what changes will be made, but I hope it improves the stadium a lot. A better roof, corner jumbotrons, seats that face home plate, and less of a closterphobic feeling from the upper rows which right now are located underneath the giant slabs of concrete that is the level above it (mainly in the seats by the bullpen).

The group that won the bid for the renovations is the same group that has been part of the construction/renovations for 20 other teams in the MLB, so they'll definitely be able to help turn the stadium into one more like the others.

January is the expected date of the official announcement where I'm guessing they'll say what they're gonna upgrade.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

                              He's not going anywhere.

He's still part of Fox/The Athletic.

well dadgummit, I guess MLB Network will probably never hire me either

it amazes me to no end Manferd's ability to make one pine for Bud Selig. Selig was always, in my estimation, a step below used car salesman and lawyers, but compared to Manferd, Selig could easily be mistaken as being one step above puppy dogs, apple pie, and 3 day weekends
