I wouldn't be surprised. I remember earlier this year or last year when we had a discussion in this thread about the MLB changing balls behind the scenes.

I saw this, and the potential for a gambling scandal is pretty damned massive IMO.
Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.

The lockout sucks since it means we won't be reading each day about rumors of this player signing with this team, or potential trades, etc... and we'll miss the winter meetings, but I personally don't think we will see any impact on games, including spring training.

If there is a silver lining to the pandemic and 2020 season is that nobody (players/owners) wants to lose anymore revenue. So I think that serves as a driving point to get a deal done, or if nothing else for the two sides to agree to a one year extension on the current CBA and reconvene next offseason to hammer out details while bouncing proposals off each other over the course of the season.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Of course there is. But now that these sports leagues are in bed financially with these gaming operators they've basically switched from prosecutor to defense attorney, and can control the message however they see fit. There are 900 red flags when it comes to all of this.

I don’t think it will reach the regular season but I could see them not getting serious about negotiations until it’s time for pitchers and catchers to report and then we get a condensed spring training. I usually go to St Lucie for the Mets spring training every year but I didn’t want to book it this year just in case.

Also in regards to the lockout, Michael Kay was saying on his radio show that once the lockout starts players are not allowed to have contact with anyone affiliated with the team which means if you’re rehabbing from Tommy John or any other surgery you’re on your own this off season which seems crazy

I’d heard that players rehabbing were allowed to continue their rehab until they are cleared by doctors.

And they have the gall to throw mlb players under the bus for steroid use and pitchers doctoring the ball. But they've been manipulating the ball.

This doesn't need to be glossed over this is just as serious if not more so then sign stealing and steroids.

Never realized the PA countered the leagues expanded playoff proposal.

Their proposal is for a 12 team playoff and more surprisingly, divisional realignment.

Sounds like the PA would want 2 divisions per league (so division winners get a BYE to the LDS) which means we have 4 WC teams per league facing off in the WC round.

Unless you're insinuating different offenses get to use a different ball, then at least the ball provides a "level playing field" for both teams in that game. Sign-stealing and steroid using is advantageous to one side and not the other.

But those who know me knows that I hate the juiced ball, period. It has fundamentally changed our game.

EDIT: I just ran the numbers. 39% of all plate appearances in 2021 were a home run, strikeout, or walk. In 2011 this number was 29%. That's not a 10% increase, that's a 34% increase.

Why would gambling be involved? What if it's just MLB trying to reduce the HR rate?
