    Re: MLB Off-Topic

Everyone there be like: "Look, he's been injured this entire season anyway. Can't we just call it a wash and say that he was tested positive at the beginning of the season and has already served his 80 games?"

Also I haven't read any details and don't know when the testing took place or what he's been taking it for, but I remember after Soto got traded over he wanted to ramp up his rehab to get back on the field. I wonder if something was related here where he was trying to find a fix to recover more quickly or something of the sort, and this was really a first-time doing.

lol yeah, that excuse Tatis gave was the lamest, albeit funniest, I had heard in a long while:
clobetasol - over the counter drug for skin ailments like such as ringworm
        clostebol - anabolic steroid

I'm truly inspired by Tatis. the next time I get a pulled over for speeding, maybe I'll try reasoning the caffeine I had earlier must have spread to my car somehow and made it go faster. caffeine is probably contagious so it might just work

I wasn't saying "he's 23" as an excuse to his actions, I meant that he's got his whole career ahead of him still and will likely be a perennial All-Star. Why would anyone want to void his contract? If this happened at age 28 after 2 or 3 straight subpar seasons, sure. But not now. He'll be fine.

If your team just dished out $340 million to someone a year ago and now you find out he may not have earned it on his own merits alone I think it’s pretty reasonable to want to get out of the contract rather than risk him getting off the PEDs and not being the same player for the remainder of the contract

Even if such an avenue was available to the Padres, they'd never do this in a million years. Almost certainly the following would happen:

                - Tatis Jr. would be declared a free agent and there's zero chance he'd resign with the Padres
                - Machado and Soto would want out
                - Free agents would avoid San Diego like the plague

This doesn't even address on-field performance and attendance/merchandise issues. All because Tatis might be a fraud? The Yankees and Dodgers might consider taking such a hard line, because their resources and markets pretty much insulate them if they make a colossal error. The Padres? Nope.

If it's an option and Peter Seidler directs it then yes, they will void contract and probably explore getting rid of Tatis and his baggage. Points two and three are extreme takes that are mutually exclusive. I doubt Manny opts out and Soto is most likely hitting free agency regardless of what happens to Fraudnando.

They already had that option when he admitted to his motorcycle accident and he kept denying it until it was revealed that he injured his wrist and they chose not to.

I'd like to hear if Tatis had previously been tested before this year. until I hear otherwise I'm:
                          A) assuming he has, and passed because he was clean
                          B) again, until I hear otherwise, I figure he was trying to get back on the field ASAP and was trying to shortcut his way back

I just don't think Tatis needs peds to put up great numbers, and he still has a skyhigh potential IMO

he just needs to take his lumps and learn and grow from all this. and I think he will

I could be wrong but I thought that in order to get the 80 day ban it means he would have already previously tested positive.

                                my understanding is:
first failed test is 80 game suspension
second failed test is 162 game suspension suspension plus post-season
third failed test is lifetime ban

so far only Jennry Mejia has received a lifetime ban, even though MLB later softened and removed that ban
