Re: MLB Off-Topic

So I didn't know that the A's stadium would be completed in 2028 and they will be moving around different stadiums.
For real though, it just feels so awkward if they're in Oakland for 2024 knowing the team has already been approved to move after that. Going to SF doesn't sound much better either.
The Vegas ballpark sounds like a decent option, but players will hate it. Jays spent millions on upgrading the Bisons AAA park and only played there due to covid reasons and other teams hated it even though it was a reason out of the Jays control. Don't know how well playing in a AAA ballpark for a few years when you might have other options would go over with players.
I guess a diff part of the country would be out of the equation too?
Could they play at the LLWS ballpark in Pennsylvania (capacity around 40,000)? College WS park in Omaha (24,000 that expands to 35,000)?Last edited by Majingir; 12-02-2023, 11:29 AM.Comment

Disperse the team, go at it with 29 teams for a few years and then expand to Vegas!

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Im surprised that wasn't even an option.
Even if it's temporary, at least you have a stadium with a capacity large enough to bring enough money for a major league team.
Which is why I wonder at least if they'd consider a 20,000+ seat one like in Pennsylvania and Omaha.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
NPB schedules a bunch of neutral site regular season games every year so that fans outside the major Japanese cities can see pro ball. IIRC the NHL did something similar to promote the 100th anniversary of the Stanley Cup in 92/93.
So why not something like this: The A's establish a "home base" somewhere in the West, play 20-25 of their home games there, then play their remaining 15-20 "home games" in minor league & college parks around the continent. A's vs Mariners (or Blue Jays) in Vancouver's Nat Bailey Stadium for a 3-game series, A's vs the Astros or Padres in San Antonio, who says no? Yes, the A's players will hate it, but let's face it, their roster for the next couple seasons are going to be mostly anonymous anyway, and none of the current options look appealing. I say make some lemonade here and try to create some buzz in non-MLB markets.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Re: MLB Off-Topic
Agreed. And the logistics make my idea unfeasible for 2024. But man, having a brutal A's team play in front of small, indifferent (or outright hostile when playing games in Oakland) crowds for FOUR seasons is a grim proposition. I'd like to see something novel tried aside from just playing out the string until 2028.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that.
