It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Thread is twenty thousand posts strong. Good timing for Opening Day. RIP Mets offense. Is it too late to get better hitting? I guess we'll have to settle for 161-1.

I was nervous as hell watching Hader in there. Dude is something else. Lights out when leading by 1 but anything more then 1 run he likes to play watch this.

            To recap:

            - In November 2020, MLB.com was hard up for content, so one of their writers cold-called me (he had recently discovered that I was "real") and posted a profile; can't remember how he originally got my contact info
            - Last December, the same writer (Matt Monagan) reached out to me about a MVP 2005 20th anniversary feature (I posted that in this thread a couple weeks back)
            - A producer from MLB Tonight texted me last Sunday (the 16th) if I wanted to do a "live" interview on Monday; I waited in a Zoom green room for a couple minutes, talked to the hosts off-air for about a minute and then did the interview (it went on the air about 2 hours after it was recorded)
            - I've had zero marketing/media training (I was always strictly a "behind the scenes" type at EA) so I was more or less winging my answers - you can see my eyes shifting nervously back and forth during the interview; it went well enough, I guess, since nothing was edited out
            - Flores and Recker seem like nice guys (both of them had played MVP in the past), we talked for a few minutes after the interview; I was only vaguely aware who they were, as I haven't watched MLB Network for years; it's too bad Harold Reynolds was in Japan at the time, I was curious if he'd remember me after 20+ years!

Before you took his job this video shows Barry was in 2004.

Is that real or did they mod it in somehow?

Has the MLB posted this video online anywhere? I would love to watch this video since MVP '05 was one of my favorite MLB games ever.

Nothing has felt the same in sports video games since MVP & NFL 2K went away. [emoji24]

                    Re: MLB Off-Topic

It's fun still hearing about MVP Baseball 2005.

While I still own the game, it would be nice if we could play the game (for free) on modern consoles. Doesn't mean some remastered version, just simply letting us straight up play old Gen games.

But also, it's fun how it all connects. MVP Baseball 2005/Jon Dowd are the main reason I ever joined OS to begin with.

Because of Dowd and all the other "SCABs", people had to look up online which guy was which on the roster, so we had to manually rename all these guys in the game. Guides/CAPs and other things are what drew me to OS.

Most of what you see in that video can be done in the game by changing "me" into Bonds via Edit Player in both MVP 2004 and 2005. Bonds clearly is sporting one of our generic African-American player face models, and it looks like he's using the Sheffield batting stance. We also added an audio key so that if you changed a player's name to Bonds, Kuiper would say, "Home run... by Bonds!" etc.

What I don't remember being in there is the specific colour commentary for Bonds. It definitely SHOULDN'T be there. I have no doubt it was recorded and lived somewhere in the code, either for MVP 2003 or 2004 (we didn't find out about Barry opting out of the MLBPA licensing agreement until mid Nov 2003, and we usually did a pick-up audio session around that time). Either that's modded (someone activated the dormant code) or a bad bug that resulted from "Dowd's" audio ID being changed to Bonds. Hmmm. It's possible. That makes me worried about the photo as well. I tested it and had others test it, but there were rare occasions where a programmer fixing one bug would accidentally "unfix" past bugs in the process. I'd say 80% chance this was modded, 20% chance this was

One of the most inexplicable managing decisions ever. This game was on a Friday, the Dodgers had Thursday off, and the season was less than 3 weeks old, so bullpen fatigue wasn't an issue. Chan Ho Park had already laboured through the 1st 2 innings, throwing 39 pitches. He was sitting on 80 pitches when Tatis came up for the 2nd time in the 3rd!
