Damn, Sandoval would rake at Fenway, then again, the pitching in the AL is a lot tougher but I think Sandoval is the kind of guy who can succeed in the AL.

Wow, Cubs get the first real good manager since......Jeezus, Leo Durocher. You could make a case for Piniella and Baker however Uncle Lou was burned out and the Cubbies won in spite of Baker most of the time.

They did Renteria dirty... but Maddon is a great manager. This will be interesting.

With Maddon going to Chicago you can almost bet they'll get 1 or 2 top pitchers. Lester, Shields, Scherzer etc........ Jake Peavy is also rumored to want to play with Jon Lester again.

D'oh! My bad, I was more thinking of his last two years where by the end of it things got pretty bad.

                            Rick Renteria is officially fired.

Also, I have to mini-rant: I'm tired of hearing how "messed up" this is from too many people. Rick is a grown-*** man. I'm sure he'll be fine and land on his feet somewhere. This is a business. Obviously Maddon is the right choice for not only now, but going forward as well. Rick will DEFINITELY land a job somewhere.

It absolutely is a business, but to be talking about hiring a new manager before you have even removed the old guy is BS. Seeing a lot of reports that MLB is going to investigate the Cubs for tampering on this…will be interesting to see what happens.

I agree, it seems just a little fishy that the Cubs went so hard for Maddon while their manager was literally still on the job. It'd look less unsavory if they fired him BEFORE the reports were coming out about Maddon. Sure, the writing would be even more on the wall but at least it'd look above board.

Maybe to save face Maddon might keep Renteria on his staff?
