I'm down, as long as you can guarantee in writing that all the BIP that replace those strikeouts won't equal more hits/runs.

In terms of the robotic umps, I think height would be hard since you'd have different sizes for everyone from Altuve to Judge.

But width 100% should be automatic. Maybe even have some kind of censor in home plate that can pick up if any part of the ball goes over it, and if it does, at least that part can be considered a strike. It means the umps only have to worry about seeing if the ball is too high or low. Inside or outside is automatically determined. Maybe that'd improve umps calls on those high/low pitches too since they have less to focus on.

There's some biomechanics people that think that could reduce arm injuries as well.

You'd think that more BIP (and more offense) would actually length the game, but there's no sign of that.

The game at its offensive peak in the late 90s/early 00s saw shorter average game times than in 2018. Games in 1998, for example, ended 12 minutes earlier than games in 2018 even though they had more than half a run more per game.

I was very surprised to find out that Trevor Cahill is only 30 years old. It seems like he's been in the league for years.....maybe it's more that he seems to have been washed up for years. Either way he is having an excellent season for the surprising A's
            Chicago Cubs
            Michigan Wolverines

            Thanks Peyton. #18

Boy, that would be drastic for sure...the more I think about it, the more I like it though. The "rising" fastball and the rage for pitchers to throw 95+ wouldn't be as effective so more emphasis would be on control and breaking pitches.

How much lower? They lowered it 5 inches in '68.

If I could make one change it would be to take one of 2 spots off the MLB roster and try and limit roster moves, as I think it would have a very positive knock on effect.

It would allow less arms in the pen and less shuttling of fresh arms back and forth. Less relievers to chose from would mean they'd have to pitch more innings each, meaning they couldn't go as all out and throw so hard. Starters then would be desired to go further into games as well, which again, should make them have to conserve more energy.

obviously it'll never happen as it's the exact opposite of what the union want, but I think it would make for better, more interesting baseball

Robot umps and move the fences back some.

I'm sick of the human element in sports in general. Umpires have such inconsistent zones. It wouldn't be so bad if umpires at least called the same zones. But they are all over the place. And then what drives me insane is on a 3 ball count the strike zone significantly expands.

I never understood it. You shouldn't get rewarded because you are somewhere near the K zone. It's stupid.

One last thing. No ESPN coverage. I ****ing loathe that channel. They don't care about baseball anyway.

But if I could only pick one. Robot umps.

This is how the schedule is set now. Everyone plays each team in your division 19 times.

Per ESPN, the Rockies became the first team in MLB history to play 40 straight games vs teams over .500 and have a win percentage over .600

That's a crazy streak if games and really impressive success.
