    Re: MLB Off-Topic

I saw the GG finalists were announced and I was shocked to see that Swanson, Albies, and Camargo were not among the finalists at their positions. Surprisingly, Markakis, Freeman, and Duvall (barely played after the trade) were. I consider Swanson/Albies to both be better at their positions than any of those three. On an unsurprising note, Inciarte was a finalist again.

I kept hearing from other team's announcers/managers that Albies would get their vote for GG at 2B in the NL...he's basically a SS playing 2B. I expect Wong or Baez will win it. As for Camargo; I know the GG is Arenado's in the NL, but Camargo was 2nd in the league in range plays made (as per fan graphs) and #1 i runs prevented. I thought for sure he'd get some consideration...

I can't stand how all these sports end of season awards have "finalists" now.

Question for all the baseball fans:

Would you like the playoffs more if each series was a best of 3 series? Would you get more excited about it if each series was limited to just 3 games, putting more importance winning the 1st game?

No. Three is way too short. I can live with 5, but 7 is perfect.

I think 3 is to short, I say all are best of 5, WS is best of 7. To me that has a good balance of keeping in line with the typical season series of 3 games, but with more games to keep a “lucky” team from winning 2 and taking series, then WS the ultimate prize being best of 7.

I think with this format to they could justify adding to the playoff field without it being drawn into November, although I like the WC elimination game so I’m 50/50 on this idea.

              In a word: NO.

That's far too short and you're liable to yield some pretty damn weird results.

I agree with this, overall. However fans seemingly LOVE random outcomes.

For me, I'd have playoffs abit longer. Regular season shorter.

End season around September 23rd. WC begins September 26.

Less spacing in playoffs would be good. WC best of 3 in 4 days in September, best of 5 LDS takes 6 days, best of 7 LCS and WS in 9 days each. 1 day break between series. So WS ends October 26th for the latest.

Is this a trick question to find out who here isn't an actual baseball fan?

I actually think the real playoffs should stay exactly how they are.

The only change I'd favor is lengthening the wildcard round to 3 games.

So let's say the A's and Yankees WC was best-of-3. How does this work? Either all the games are at Yankee Stadium, or there's a travel day involved. If there's a travel day, that means the winning team's #1 starter can start Game 1 of the ALDS on full rest while the Red Sox are rusting away for a week. Not happening.

As I always say: If you don't want your season to come down to a coin flip, win your f***ing division.

Game 2 is a day game with game 3 a night cap.
