I should clarify that I don't actually like doing it, I just like that it is a possible factor. That's what makes good umpires, well, good. I once made a post about something similar to this (related to life, not baseball) that I couldn't get my point across correctly, and people thought I said that I like there are national tragedies in the world. That was so far off from my point that I realized I just can't explain myself properly, and it was me not them heh.

Anyway, what I do want to acknowledge is that this opinion comes from somebody who swears by knowing his strike zone down to an inch on either side of the plate (or at least when I used to play), so when I would be caught looking I was upset over it... but as a fan watching, I like the breaks that my team gets at times.

You know what I wouldn't have missed? Bumgarner's stare downs. I'm glad that bitter, sour sap is off my team, great as he was. People call him a competitor when he does that, and I just call him a whiner. But I digress.

A unique trade anniversary to celebrate.

Today marks 100 years since the Babe Ruth deal.

good thing prohibition was starting to take effect at the same time; otherwise the poor folks in New England would have drunk themselves to death over that one. that deal was as bad as Portland taking Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan. in an alternate timeline one can imagine Boston keeping Ruth, the Evil Empire never taking over New York City, therefore not becoming a Yankee town, and the Dodgers and Giants never having to leave New York for California. the Ruth sale affected so much more than Boston it's ridiculous. The Red Sox could have another 10 World Championships and it could be the New Jersey Yankees in a parallel universe.

Trivia Time: On 22 separate occasions players have reached base 330+ in a single season. Name the only right handed hitter to do so?

Because I don’t want to guess all day, I’ll just say that I’ve personally searched eight players so far, and barring any like 30+ HBP season I have yet to come up with the correct person.

That is both a good and interesting question.

I'll give you a hint. He reached base 331 times.

My guess would be Hank Aaron

Never mind...looked it up and would never have gotten it. Great question!

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.
