Meh @ stripping the title. It doesn't mean much to me either.

Luhnow lifetime ban, Hinch lifetime ban as well as any other front office loser who was a part of it, Cora and Beltran suspended 2 years, no first or second round picks for 5 years straight, no international signings for 5 years.

    There. Then we move on.

Losing the title I don't see how that'll impact them. That to me seems like it hurts fans more than management who won't care about the history of the Astros once they're fired or in a diff organization.

Fining the organization and losing things like draft picks and IFA money would hurt management directly.

It’s only an either/or for the people who don’t want the championship stripped. I’m pretty sure for those who do, it’s a part of the punishment, not the whole thing.
How many years are you gonna try to knock them out of contention for? I just sat through a championshipless decade, so did 75% of baseball fans or so. It’s just not enough, I might eat those punishments for the ring.

I love you, Diehard...but this is such a Yankee fan comment: “I just sat through a championshipless decade”

Stripping of titles/championships is a dumb punishment.

So you look at the record books of 2017 and there is no World Series winner listed, but there is an asterisk explaining why its blank.

The asterisk reads: "The Houston Astros won the 2017 World Series championship but were later forced to vacate this title due to being caught cheating"

            Just dumb.

As mentioned earlier, punish them by hampering their ability to compete going forward by taking away draft picks, international money, and start suspending/banning people.

It’s not intended that way, the point is it could’ve come from anyone. The vast majority of the league doesn’t win in a 10 year period so stopping them for a few years isn’t some incredible punishment to me. Would an Indians fan or Pirates fan not take a championship for 10 years of mediocrity? They’re getting it anyway without the championship.
It’s not going to happen but the punishment people are talking about is not a deterrent to me. I’ll take the chip. Draft picks are temporary, flags fly forever.

But losing draft picks and the ability to sign international players (or use the bonus pool money as a bargaining chip at the trade table) has more effect on a team's ability to compete than removing a banner.

This isn't college where your trying to sell your school to a kid as a place where he can win a championship and show him banners of your success doing so. This is professional sports. Whether there is a banner hanging up or not, players are going to decide to sign with a team based on their ability to win now or in the future and they don't care about what a team has done in the past.

Removing a banner is just a slap on the wrist and really isn't a punishment, but rather a public shaming which I'm thinking the players, staff, coaches, and fans could careless about.

According to reports he was riding a scooter that was struck from behind by a van.

I feel like the stripping of draft picks should've either been for more seasons or more rounds taken away.

A year suspension for both Hinch and Luhnow just doesn't seem to be harsh enough.

Curious to see what punishment is levied against Cora.

While I agree removing the wins does nothing. One year will always be worth it lol. So I feel for the legit teams that lost to them. I can't imagine how they feel. Or how the players that lost to them feel. Probably like something was stolen from them SMH.

Gonna take a wild guess that the architect of Houston's elaborate cheating system probably wasn't on the up-and-up while managing the team that won it all the following year.

Looking like I’ll be getting to know Ron Roenicke next season. World Series title still counts so I’m willing to sacrifice Alex Cora for a year or longer.
