I think the strategy argument had kinda led me to being ok with the NL staying off the DH, but now I think people just say any change adds strategy. How does not being able to bring in a specialty pitcher add strategy? It takes away a choice for the pitching team, takes away potential pitch hits to avoid matchups from the hitting team, I just don’t see it.

The "argument" is you have to decide whether you're willing to let a dominant righty face that #4 hitter at the expense of the #5 and #6 hitters being lefties (entering the inning or having no outs) versus doing that lefty specialist to start with, understanding that the opposing manager could counter with righty pinch-hitters at any given moment.

I mean it's tough decision-making, but one you've made the move, all of the strategy does fly out the window for one side. I like the game of bluffing with a certain on-deck batter so they pitch to one batter some way, then wait to see if that batter gets announced before they make a move, and if they make the move then the offense burns that pinch-hitter for another. That happens more in NL ball, but I think that's a lot of strategy since the chess match you're playing might involve "sacrificing your queen" in a way.

I still want to know what's stopping a pitcher from saying: "Oh man, my shoulder really bothered me on that one" and then pulling him out, only for tomorrow he can say: "I'm good again." It's very exploitative, but they would have to put some rule in place that they can't pitch the next game, and I don't want something like that at all.

I'm all for the 3 hitter minimum (of course its less if the inning ends prior to 3 hitters being reached)

My opinion of the LOOGY is that it was nothing more than a DH for pitching. I don't like the DH and I don't/didn't like the LOOGY.

If you're a major league pitcher, then you should have the ability and the pitch makeup to get out both left handed and right handed hitters. If you don't, then you work on your craft until you do, and if you can't then you move aside for someone who can.

                  Lefty specialist.

I thought they put in something where if a pitcher leaves with an injury they have an automatic IL stint but I may have imagined it.

I thought I had read/heard that as well, but I don't see it mentioned in the rules.

If they don't, they need to or a lot of LOOGY's are going to be leaving games with injuries/illnesses.

The thing of it is, anything addressed sounds like it's still only concerning the 2017 season. I wonder if there will still be questions asked regarding the potential use of buzzers in 2019 or not.

I don't know one way or the other about 2018. I haven't really heard much of anything.

That would probably discourage pitcher from faking injuries although it would be a little bit excessive since they lengthened the IL to 15 days for pitchers. Seems unreasonable to force a pitcher to sit out for two weeks just cause he left the game early....but that would certainly stop teams from cheating the system

Did I also hear the 10 day DL is going away? I know the intent was originally for guys with concussion symptoms, but it had gotten to where teams were abusing it to move pitchers up and down.
