Alright this is a pretty funny article about Doug Mirabelli getting traded back to the Red Sox in '06. http://www.hardballtimes.com/the-dou...-oral-history/

      Re: MLB Off-Topic

I think the witch hunt is annoying which is why I'll usually comment that I don't care.

For instance, while I have zero sympathy for Gordon, I really don't care that he used. It doesn't affect me in any way nor does it take away the things I enjoyed watching him do on the diamond.

I think Barry Bonds was something to behold. His swing was the most majestic thing ever witnessed by my younger self. I have a hard time appreciating his game today but in the end, I don't care that he broke the record. Doesn't bother me. It's his record and if someone can break it clean, that would make the record breaker's feat even that much more amazing.

But at the same time I don't condone their actions. I don't want steroids in baseball. I love 3-2 games. I think more is involved in those games. I love when a home run is a big moment instead of just another dinger yay... :/

So I hope that guys like Harper and Trout are clean. But if they aren't, I'll laugh at their excuses and do away with my fondness for their ability, but I won't demand their records be stripped or even care one way or another what happens to them and their stats.

It'll be another story in the news cycle of sports and someone will do something amazing the following day to grab my attention away.

And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Just need to change the incentives equation, at the moment some (many?) players still feel it is worth to them to use PED's for the chance to get thousands (for minor leaguers, fringe guys) or millions of dollars.

Bring on the 1 year for the 1st offense. And only the possibility of reinstatement after 5 years, not 3.

The players now might be on something or might not be, but what I'm saying is that they don't need to be intentionally distributed to all players to "elevate" players into stratospheres where they're better able to chase records just for the show just because it's "more interesting" or whatever.

Yea that was hilarious. Also Theo telling Josh Beckett he has been traded for Doug Mirabelli.

Exactly my feelings. I don't want players juiced up, but if they are, there's not really much I can do that will change anything. The asterisk stuff is impossible because we don't know who is and isn't artificially enhancing their performance. Trying to assign asterisk to one guy and not another is a futile and misguided attempt.

It just comes down to the classic, "I'm not mad, just disappointed." We're all kind of reconciling with the past era PED's and the current era in our own ways. 10 years ago I would take a hard stance on it, now I just wave my hand and shake my head.

I wish MLB would just move the fences back, and give more power to the pitchers. That will never happen of course for many reasons.

But I hate cheapies. There's nothing fun about watching that.

What about Rogers Centre? I mean, it's actually a fair stadium construction wise but hoo boy...I dunno what it is but once the weather warms up balls go flying out of there at an alarming rate.

You can add GABP and Citizens Bank to that list.

Doesn't Petco have like the lowest amount of HR's hit every year?
