After seeing the AL CY Young Voting I was sure Betts was going to get it. Props for getting this one Right.

Hmmmm....so Nolan Arenado is both the best fielding 3B in the NL and the best hitting 3B in the NL, yet Kris Bryant is the MVP....makes u think?

Glad to see the writers got BOTH the AL and NL MVP awards right. Also, nice to see both NY writers voting for a Boston Red Stocking for their #1 spot.

Good for Trout. Should be his 5th in 5 years. I'm not certain that people are comprehending how ridiculous that is. If this were the NBA, people would be rioting in the streets about this. Dude has singlehandedly made me strongly reconsider my thinking on the whole "MVP should go to a player who's on a team that actually accomplished or came close" thing.

Truly a pleasure to watch this guy every day. And the best part is that he's not an insufferable prick. To this point, one of the most likable athletes to ever come around. Shame that most people in this city have no clue how lucky they are. And baseball in general is really lucky. Almost all the emerging megastars are incredibly charismatic, lovable, and conduct themselves in a great fashion.

I expect the Angels to be much, much better next year. Straight up devastated by injuries this year. They played well the last 2 months of the season.

The notion of trading the best player on the planet is one of the dumbest ****ing things I've ever heard in my life.

So let's ask this. Miguel Cabrera beat Trout (in 2012) in all but 3 stats, WAR, SB and OBP (which was .003 margain) is Trout's defense really enough to put him past Cabrera? Trout had a dWAR of 2.1 whereas Cabrera had a dWAR of -0.2. Is that 2.3 difference in dWAR really say that Trout was more valuable than Cabrera? Because I made the same case last week about Betts being just as Trout on offense but a far superior defender and was laughed at.

Betts is not as good as Trout on offense.

                        Trout v. Betts:

                        • OBP: .441/.363 (1st)
                        • OPS+: 174/131 (1st)
                        • Off WAR (BRef): 9.9/6.2 (1st)
                        • wOBA: .418/.379 (2nd)
                        • wRC+: 171/135 (1st)

And way to leave out all the old stats like HR, AVG, RBI, 2Bs, total bases, etc. which was my point. Where Betts beat Trout in every one of those categories with the exception of triples. It all comes to down to which side of the debate you fall on. I mean if we go by all the new statistics we're not gunna be naming a new AL MVP for the next 15 years.

It isn't simply a matter of old vs. new, is a matter of describing a player's performance more accurately with advance statistics. And if that means Trout winning it for the next 15 years so be it (if he deserves it). Would hate for MLB writers to go all "Jordan has won too many already" on Trout.

Didn't miggy get a triple crown that year? If so no amount of defense from trout could beat miggy that year

Yes he did. That's why it's so preposterous that people are saying Trout should've won the MVP that year.
