Milton Bradly and Juan E. are going to help this team plus they have Gange at the end. I know it's early but the Pads got me worried they always do well aginst LA but things seem to have changed this year. It looks like 3rd place if I had to guess now. Plus what is up with the bullpen Eddie Orspera needs to go and Jay W. needs to get someone out. Linebrink is the best MR pitcher they have which is sad.

Pretty dumb is saying something dumb like that. They didn't know how the park was going to play until they, uh, played in it. You're going to base a possible 19 games played against the Dodgers on just 6 games? I never take the first 3 weeks of the season seriously at all. Do you really think Giles will hit .150 this year? I guess Ted Williams better look out because it's quite clear that LoDuca will hit .460. Hell, Trev blew his first save and almost his second, should they let him loose as well? Klesko's better days are clearly behind him with that paltry .250 average, I think it's time to see what the Padres can get for him. Payton was a worthless pick up. What's he hitting, .170? Get rid of him. Come talk to me in May, until then, zip it.

Actually that's not that dumb a statement by stolf maybe he worded it wrong but a park with such huge dimensions in the power alleys is pretty hard to hit HRs in. It's almost like Comerica West right now. HOWEVER and this is a big one, we haven't seen how the park plays in warm California summer weather so I'm giving it a chance.

I've watched some of the games with the Dodgers (only because I just LOOOOOVE hearing Vin Scully) and it seems the Dodgers have the right idea about how to hit in that park.

It's just my humble opinion for now. I'm sure it'll change. I like what i've seen from some of the Padres players/pitchers from what I've seen this year so i'm sure they'll do well.

You're 5/5 MSU, 5/5. Yes, first creating the Padres > Dodgers thread (Pffft). Then posting something about sweeping the Giants, which turned out to be an embarrasing loss. And after Eatons Quality Start Tuesday that ended up being a win, you jinx the starters by boasting about their combined ERA, which is probably 4.00+ something now the B-Law and Wells have given up 10 Earnies.

4-5 looks good huh? Put an asterisk there. Now let me do the talking before you jinx them again.

A cold Arizona team is coming by the weekend, well, I wouldn't say cold since they snapped out of their losing streak. What makes it even worse is that they have the Big Unit on the mound against Peavy. Should be a good pitchers duel IF the starter jinx does not reach Peavy. I say this offense has no chance against the Big Unit... especially how they're swinging the bats (I don't care about that .286 team batting average, no clutch hits except from Burroughs).

No hitters can hit home runs, huh. We just saw two last night hit by Loretta and Nevin, there have been 5 home runs in Petco in the season, 10 including the exhibition games. To make your convictions now about the park saying no one will hit home runs is ridiculous. The wind isn't blowing as hard as it is expected to as we get deeper into the season, the temperature is only in the 60's, which should be in the 70's in the next three/four months. I don't care about the long ball, I'll take Nevin, Giles, and Klesko hitting doubles, keeping the rally going rather than a long ball that removes the base runners for the pitcher (if he's still in there) and removes the situation of going into the stretch. The Dodgers are hitting well now, to my surprise. But then again, the Padres have hit only good there (.279 vs .283 opponents average).

Give me Polo Grounds then, did people complain if they built a lineup designed for power in the alleys? Probably not. How about Old Yankee Stadium with the power alleys and centerfield almost as deep as Polo Grounds? Forbes Field?

Once again, your conviction of the Padres being stupid in building a lineup for a park that hasn't even seen a full 81 games at home is ridiculous. Give it two or three seasons instead of six/eight games. Believe me, I'd rather have this park than Qualcomm.

Um, whatever happened to Akinori Otsuka? Does he no longer exist? I thought Setup Men were Middle Relievers.

Wow, I haven't heard a peep from MSU about the Padres since I made this thread. Must've worked. Today's game, ESPN 2 I think, 7:05 start (moved earlier to accomodate ESPN). Peavy vs. Schmidt, Bonds vs. Home Run Streak, Giles vs. Cold Streak, and Klesko vs. CF Wall.
