I remember him playing this well back when he was w/ the Royals/Braves, he had a great season, even making the All Star team. He's been injured too much, but this year he's come out to prove that he's still the player he once was.

Yeah I agree. He's always had tons of talent, but has been injured so often lately that we haven't had a chance to see it. If he can stay healthy, he can definately put up some good numbers...

I think his performance can be tied to the fact that he is finally healthy. Being healthy allows him at bats, allows him to see a lot of pitchers, pitches, and, most importantly, consistency. We all knew that he was a good player. Is he overpaid? Of course he is. He got that contract during the 'spending years'. But he's definately a great player poised for an MVP season.

I wonder if he will traded mid-year or if the A's will let him go???? Cause I don't think they will re-sign him if he asks for the same type of contract.

well i was watching the local Oakland A's show here in the bay area, and they were discussing this subject, and the A's GM stated that Jermaine Dye is probably the most valuable player on the A's roster (besides the power 3: Zito, Hudson, Mulder) and that they have given up too many players in the past and can use Dye to build around and to give the A's a shot at the World Series for years to come . . . if he stays healthy that is.

so as of now its looking like the A's might resign him, but who knows . . . things change.
