    Most Memorable Game This Century

Oh yeah, I forgot that awesome comeback by the Red Sox to beat the Yankees in 7 games on route to win their first world series since 1918. That was an awesome series!

I was at Twins/Tigers Game 163. Convinced I'll never see anything that great live again in my life.

And not a single game, but who can forget the crazy series events of Game 162s in 2011?

You guys should add the clips too. I'm too lazy to look up each individual thing listed.

As a Jays fan, it was 1993. 1992 was a bit dramatic, winning game 6 in extras, but not quite the same. That's a shame you don't remember the year. And that's the 20th century, not 21st.

Wow, for some reason I always thought Carter hit that homerun in 92, always felt like he hit it and gave the Jays first championship but then remembered it was against the Braves where Timlin with his stache threw to Carter at 1B to end it. The 2nd year was off the wild thing Mitch Williams of the Phillies. I knew it was the Braves the first year but always got the game ending mixed up lol. So yep 93 championship walkoff by Carter was the memorable one for me. Funny how both championship ended by Carter.

Mind you I was only 11,12 those years so I was pretty young.

August 5, 2001. Seattle vs. Cleveland. I remember watching the game and being amazed at how good Seattle looked. It just felt like a game I wanted to watch. Cleveland slowly whittled into the lead after being down 12 and I thought to myself, "Cleveland has a chance to come back." I could just feel the momentum start to turn. Omar Vizquel finished up with 4 rbis. Probably the greatest game I have ever seen.

Re: Most Memorable Game This Century

There are a few I remember as a baseball fan. Last day of the season 2011, and game 6 Rangers v Cards in the 2011 WS.

As a Tigers fan, the most painful was the 2009 game 163. The Tigers had a reasonable lead on the division and played .500 ball the last 20 games. The Twins proceeded to go 16-4 to end the season, with 3 losses being to Detroit (played seven times in the last 20, Twins won 4) and 1 to eventual Cy Young winner Zach Grenkie.

Since we lost the season series, game 163 was to be played in the Metrodome. We started rookie Rick Porcello (Verlander and Jackson had went the days before) and the Twins Scott Baker. Cabrera hit an early 3 run shot and shut up all the fans dutifully heckling him about the recent domestic disturbance. It was all downhill from there, as the Twins slowly began to came back and took a 4-3 lead. In the top of the 8th, Singlio Ordonez hit a solo shot to tie the game. In the top of the 10th, Inge doubled to give the Tigers a 5-4 lead. Rodney blew the save due to a Michael Cuddyer triple () and the game winning run was tagged out at the plate. In the 11th, with the bases loaded, Inge got hit by a pitch and the ump didn't call it. We got robbed! In the bottom of the 12th with Rodney still in, Carlos Gomez scored on a single from second by Casilla.

I had never despised a professional sports team until then. Now I hate the Twins with a passion and enjoy all of their recent failures since the 2010 season. I even rooted for the Yankees against the Twins in 2009 and 2010, which is basically sacrilege since I dislike the Yankees. It pleased me when the Metrodome was torn down, for the Twins games as well as the Vikings/Lions games.

Don't forget about Granderson inexplicably getting doubled up off of first on a line drive straight to SS.

Game Six of the 2011 World Series has to be the number one game of the current century. I've always wondered what Josh Hamilton's legacy would have been had we held the lead the second time... I also wonder if he would have bolted to Anaheim as fast as he did (my guess is he would have, but the hate toward him would have been a bit less).

I will say, Game Six of the 2010 American League Championship Series is my pick for Rangers game of all-time, much less century. That game and the entire fifteen year build-up to that game could be the focus of a "30 for 30" documentary. After so many heartaches, that game ushered in the Golden Age of Rangers Baseball.

As an M's fan I don't see how I can choose anything but 95 ALDS Game 5 (even though it created the Yankee dynasty by forcing them to fire Buck, move Mo to the bullpen, and actually play their youngsters instead of trading them)
I only hate that I grew up in a no sports household and never got to see it live.

September and October are chock full of good options, but what I love about baseball is how truly insane it can be sometimes, and nothing to me was crazier than June 28, 2008 when Jered Weaver lost to the Dodgers without giving up a hit. I'm amazed Soschia (sp) kept his job and his head after pulling him for a pinch hitter.

But again, I've only been a baseball fan since around 2003.

That Rays-Yankees games is one of the most memorable in my life. I remember being around the tv with my whole family switching back and forth and when the Red Sox lost, everyone looking around confused like "Wait...do we root against the Yankees now?" Didn't even have time to decide, seemed like it was right after Longo ended it. I've never seen my family so happy after a Yankee loss it was awesome.
