Random pictures from Opening Day Excursion 2014 that Mel took. Surprisingly, she didn't have too many (unlike other events.) Only the first few innings is when she really was taking pictures.

I saw that it was colder in New York for opening pitch yesterday than it was for opening kickoff for the Super Bowl.

Because they were so bad last year, I did not pay much attention to the Miami Marlins and as a result I had never seen Jose Fernandez pitch. But after watching last nights game where Fernandez undressed my Rox (the Rockies), this guy has to be one of the best pitchers out there. Plus he has a great attitude. Of course he already had a 6-0 lead to play with, but in the middle of the game Cargo slams a huge HR against Fernandez and instead of sulking, Jose laughed it off and gave the thumbs up to Cargo for the monster hit.

I doubt they will compete for the playoffs, but I suspect the Marlins will be a lot better this season playing some good .500 ball?

Yeah, for a little bit of the Nationals/Mets I watched before the Sox, one of the Nationals broadcast guys said snow flurries were hitting his window on the way to the stadium.

Never had a problem with him, though after Boston signed him I heard all the stories of fans and players hating him. One of those you'll love him if he's on your team kind of guys.

Definitely. Like I said, he's a fine addition to any team... however, as a Twins fan, I just hate his guts.

Easily my favorite player in the majors and probably already my favorite Marlin in a long time. Everything about him is just awesome. His actual pitching is obviously great, good work ethic, his success story is straight out of a movie basically. Most of all his attitude is something I wish more players had, never wants to leave the game and always seems like he's having the most fun.

.500 is my realistic high expectations as with good pitching anything is possible and as we saw last night they have some decent young hitters it's just a matter of health and consistency to translate to Ws
