    3/30 - 4/6 Game Discussion Thread

It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.
Of course, there are those who learn after the first few times. They grow out of sports. And there are others who were born with the wisdom to know that nothing lasts. These are the truly tough among us, the ones who can live without illusion, or without even the hope of illusion. I am not that grown-up or up-to-date. I am a simpler creature, tied to more primitive patterns and cycles. I need to think something lasts forever, and it might as well be that state of being that is a game; it might as well be that, in a green field, in the sun.

It's finally back. Hoping for the best with the Reds this year, but I think they are going to have a down year.

8 guys on the DL to start the year, including our top 3 relievers, our ace & starting catcher. 6 of first 9 against St. Louis too.

Even though the Rangers look like the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant team with the injuries and all, I've got my tickets for tomorrow and am awaiting the warm embrace of the Ballpark in Arlington. Nothing beets the feeling of Opening Day.

I plan to watch more baseball than I ever have in the last few years what with TSN carrying the ESPN baseball package (not just SNB) and of course watching my beloved Blue Jays. Throw in MLB-N and i'm in baseball nirvana

As for the Jays, I literally have no expectations other than Drew Hutchison making a complete recovery from TJ surgery and pitching at least comparably to what he's done this spring. I'm hoping for .500 baseball at least.

I expect a fun season. Should be a very offensive driven year with so many pitchers going down. Prince could lead at least the AL in homers now that he plays 81 games in Arlington.

Glad it's back. Looking forward to watching the league's established young stars and to see who comes out of nowhere this season.

As for the Cubs... I just hope none of the prospects take a step back, and Rizzo and Castro can bounce back.

ESPN needs to get rid of that strike zone box immediately.

                        It is absolutely atrocious...

ouch. Those small errors are killing the Dodgers.

The Dodgers really got out hustled and out fundamentaled (yes I made up a word) tonight. Clearly San Diego DOESN'T fear the beard

Seriously though I thought Mattingly could've kept Ryu pitching into the 8th and if he got into any issues than you use the bullpen.

                              Ah well....
