Went to watch Adam WAinright pitch again. He's going to be special.

Saw this cat pitch last night for the AAA Memphis Redbirds. The only negative I can say about the guy is that he gets wild for a pitch or two after giving up some damage. I think that's a mental issue more or less. His mechanics seemed to be on point (I was in the second level on the first base side, so these are only guesses). Fastball was in the 95-99 range, slider was at 89-92, curve was in the mid 70s. This was the third time I've seen him this year and the boy just has great pure stuff (to use the OOTP6 term).

So if your a cardinal fan, be on the lookout. If your a Braves fan, slap yourself.

I knew trading away Wainwright was a bad idea...

Wainwright never threw that hard with the Braves. He was consistently 89-93, only occasionly reaching the mid-90's.

The Braves biggest concern was his durability. He had a tendancy throughout his minor league career to wear down late in the season. Supposedly they were also worried his height might affect his mechanics, he's 6'9" and still growing (read that in a Jayson Stark column after the trade).

His future looks bright though, just needs to get stronger and be a little more consistent.

Yeah I heard this kid is pretty good, but I'll wait to judge him once he plays a year or 2 in the majors.

Remember Rich Harden of the A's??? Everyone touted him as the next amazing A's pitcher. Here's what he's accomplished this year:

                            3 G 0 W 2 L 1.62 WHIP 5.40 ERA 16.2 IP 19 K 7 BB

The BB/K/IP ratio is excellent, but aside from that he hasn't faired too well. Granted it's early and I expect him to turn it around, but ya never know...
