It's just baffling. He was caught on camera with it last time, so he should have known the Sox would be on the lookout for it. To be that careless is just stupid.

I'm a Sox fan so Yankee schadenfreude is always great. But I always find it stupid that people use these situations to place blame on the franchise.

You'll no doubt see plenty of message board posts "the Yankees are cheaters" or "what a classy organization that has to cheat" etc. This isn't the Yankees telling Pineda to use Pine tar. This is a player who wasn't seeing the same level of success as earlier in his career doing something to try and fix that. New York didn't know this is what they'd get when they traded for him. Hate the player, not the team. (but I will continue to hate the team for different reasons )

MLB Tonight just showed that Pineda had no pine tar in the first (gave up 2 runs), and had it on the second when he was tossed.

He should have hid it better. I don't care that he did it, but the Sox should know that they will get the same treatment for their pitchers.

My timeline has been pretty funny since this incident. I know his kid, we had a team named "Gerry Davis Sports" in our Little League division that he sponsored and he's hooked some of my friends up before with trips to games/on the field before the games/etc. when he's out on a trip.

Agreed, though I will say the Yankees coaching staff was asleep at the wheel if no one spoke to him about it after the last game. Maybe they did though.

Question: Although this may not be the right thread, but does MLB14 the Show come w/ a pine tar using Michael Pineda? If so I will head out and buy a PS4 tomorrow.

Royals are now 10-0 when scoring 4 or more runs, and 0-10 when scoring 3 or less. Hopefully they can keep this up all season.

That game at Wrigley really summarizes 100 years of Cubs baseball does it not?

It really couldn't have gone any other way. Having a good lead in the 9th only to blow it due to pitiful execution
